Susan Thomas, P.E., PMP

Sue Thomas, PE, is the Chief Operating Officer of KLD Engineering, P.C. She has 20 years of Traffic Engineering experience from projects including traffic simulation modeling, emergency planning, signal retiming, and adaptive control. She is a NYS Licensed Professional Engineer and has a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Bath, UK, and a MS in Energy Studies from the University of Sussex, UK.

Adam Levine

Adam is the Executive Director of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Council (NYMTC). In this role, Adam leads the second-largest metropolitan planning organization in the country, ensuring the flow of nearly $37 billion in funding for over 1000 transportation projects and studies in New York City, Long Island and the lower Hudson Valley. Prior to this, Adam served at the New York State Department of Transportation, most recently as the Regional Traffic Engineer for New York City. Adam has diverse experience in traffic operations, highway design, major projects, and public and governmental affairs. Recent prior NYSDOT positions include Regional Traffic Engineer and Transportation Management Center manager for the Hudson Valley, and Public Information Officer for New York City. Prior to his time as PIO, Adam served on the Route 9A Project team that rebuilt West Street adjacent to the World Trade Center following September 11, 2001. Adam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Princeton University and a Master’s degree in transportation planning and engineering from the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

Greg M. Jones

Mr. Jones has been with the Federal Highway Administration since 1984. He has been a member of the FHWA Resource Center since 1999. In 2006 Mr. Jones also accepted a dual appointment as a member of the FHWA Headquarters’ Office of Operations. Ralph is also the co-lead for the Every Day Counts innovation: “Advancing Crowdsourcing for Operations.” Additionally, Ralph holds multi-discipline Federal-aid experience in both the Tennessee and Georgia Division Offices and FHWA Headquarters. Prior to joining FHWA in 2001, Ralph was a specialist in planning and public transportation for the Tennessee Department of Transportation. Besides his federal and state service, Ralph was a senior transportation planner and program manager with a metropolitan planning organization in Louisville, KY and as a transportation engineer with a regional architecture/engineering firm in Nashville, TN. Mohamad Talas, P.E., P.TOE, Ph.D.

Dr. Talas brings long standing career experience to traffic engineering and operation and continues with over 30 years experience in the New York City Department of Transportation. He currently serves as the Director for the NYC Department of Transportation System Engineering, ITS Projects Management, where he supervises the Intelligent Transportation System projects and initiatives in New York City. These projects include the management of the New York City Traffic Computerization System at the Traffic Management Center-modernizing and operating over 13,700 signals, the currently deployed Active Traffic Management System systems in Manhattan “Midtown In Motion” and Adaptive Control System implementation citywide, in addition to ITS Deployment on Highways and local street networks. In the last five years he is leading the NYC Connected Vehicle Pilot Deployment project management.

Dr. Talas is also worked as Adjunct Professor at NYU –Tandon School Of Engineering Transportation Graduate Program. He has earned his Ph.D. in Transportation Planning and Engineering at NYU -Poly University, his Master's degree in Transportation, Planning and Engineering and Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He is a licensed Professional Engineer and a member of the Intelligent Transportation Systems America organizations, ITE and a member of Intelligent Transportation Systems Advance Transportation Controller National Standards.

Ellwood Hanrahan

Ellwood Hanrahan is a Transportation Program Coordinator with the New York Department of Transportation. He currently leads the programming and strategic planning for operations of NYSDOT’s Statewide Mobility Services program, including coordination with Active Transportation Demand Management (ATDM) and Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) initiatives, management of outcomes-based performance metrics, improving transportation information delivery, and enhancing customer experiences on public transportation, including integration with shared and micro-mobility services, public outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities. He has more than 24 years of experience working on project development, transportation demand management and transportation planning for operations, and has worked in both the public and private sectors developing and managing small- and large-scale projects. While employed at the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) provided program oversite and technical advisory for programs involving multiple Federal, State, and Industry partners.

Mohammed Ibrahim

Mohammed Ibrahim is a consultant Transportation Analyst supporting the NYSDOT main office assisting with a variety of analysis related to speed enforcement, HELP program operations, intersections data, and GTFS. Previously he interned for the Capital District Transportation Committee and City of Albany’s Department of Planning and Development where he worked on identifying corridors for CMP (Congestion Management Process) and updated the existing network for regional TDM (Travel Demand Management). Mohammed holds a Master's Degree in Urban and Regional Planning from SUNY Albany and a Bachelor of Architecture from University Vishveshvaraya College of Engineering at Bangalore University.
