The Dangers of Ototoxins (Dr. Sarah Mouser)
Millions of workers are exposed to noise in the workplace every day and when uncontrolled, noise exposure may cause permanent hearing loss. Research demonstrates exposure to certain chemicals, called ototoxicants, may cause hearing loss or balance problems, regardless of noise exposure. Substances including pesticides, solvents, and pharmaceuticals that contain ototoxicants can negatively affect how the ear functions, causing hearing loss, and/or affect balance.
In safety and risk management, talent acquisition and employee retention are paramount for ensuring organizational resilience and compliance with regulations. The presentation will cover and offer insights into specialized techniques tailored to the unique needs of this field. This asset has been instrumental in helping a vast majority of workers throughout NCDOT improve tactical maneuvers and walking on unsuspected slippery surfaces. The series of exercises has help develop skills to reduce or eliminate slip and fall accidents. The Simulator will be set up in the parking lot throughout the schedule of the school for you to test your walking skills.
