Virtual Poster: Implementing a Safe Space for African American Employees to Develop Individualized Racism Recovery Plans
While attending UNC-Chapel Hill, Dr. Stewart conducted a study
for her DNP proposal defense titled "Implementing a Safe Space
for African American Employees to Develop Individualized
Racism Recovery Plans." The study allowed African American
employees who had experienced racism throughout life to meet,
vent, share commonalities, learn coping strategies, develop racial
trauma recovery plans, and get on a path of healing and
maintenance. As racial injustices continued around America and
beyond, it became apparent that Black mental health was in
imminent danger. There needed to be a release or an outlet so
Black minds remained stable and healthy, and spaces were
imperative at this point. Dr. Stewart's passion for incorporating
spaces in organizations for African Americans and people of
African descent led to the development of MyALLy Stewart
Diversity Consulting, a nonprofit organization. MyALLy offers
Racial Trauma Recovery sessions, Microaggressions & Implicit
Bias training, Allyship & Anti-racism education, and
