Belinda founded #SustainableSA in 2019 which is a project now sponsored by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) that provides regular updates on South Africa’s status for achieving each SDG, education, highlights of key actions needed to be taken and relevant tips and tools for reporting.
Before co-founding SustainableDNA, Belinda set up and established the Sustainability Advisory business at Emergent Africa. Belinda won the SAICA Chairman’s Difference Makers Award for Sustainability in 2022.

Katharina Gihring is an executive member of the African Circular Economy Network (ACEN) and has a key role in further operationalising ACEN to grow the success of the network. She coordinates and manages a multitude of projects such as Just2CE as well as Circular South Africa. Her background is in ecology, environmental management, capacitation and systems thinking with a MSc in Environmental Management (UJ - South Africa). She was also part of the core team implementing World Circular Economy Forum 2022. In Katharina’s previous work at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) she successfully tendered and implemented larger (research) projects such as merSETA VIRO-VENT Skills Innovation Challenge to design and manufacture a ventilator alongside student capacitation. She largely contributed to the uptake of the circular economy at UJ’s Technology Station, which currently supports the development of the universities strategy and has led to UJ becoming a supporting member of the SA Plastics Pact. Her main focus is on the circular economy and how this concept can be implemented in a just-way. Her experience ranges from multidisciplinary and mix-method research, research coordination, project management, event coordination, action plan development to workshop and educational facilitator. Pippa has an undergraduate and PhD degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cape Town.
Pippa is an expert life cycle assessment (LCA) practitioner, with over 20 years of experience, most recently in the food, retail, packaging and consumer goods sectors. Recent consulting work with UNEP’s Economy Division looking at a life cycle approach to addressing single-use plastics pollution has included outputs on a systemic approach to addressing marine plastics, advancing circularity in textiles, and alternatives to single-use plastic products.
Pippa is active in the development and promotion of life cycle assessment in South African. Her collaborations with UCT include convening an annual LCA course.

Anneri joined Human8 (previously InSites Consulting) in 2010 and is Business Director of our Johannesburg team since 2022. She joined Columinate (acquired by InSites Consulting in 2018) as the first employee and has been a key driver of growth for the business within the market research world ever since.

With an impressive growth path from Intern to Business Director, Anneri focusses today particularly on growing the local team’s client portfolio. Anneri’s first loves are a happy client and coming up with interesting methodologies and solutions. She played an instrumental part in the growth of two of the South African office’s industry-specific syndicated studies: SITEisfaction and Ad360.
Anneri holds a master’s degree in Research Psychology, lives in Johannesburg and is the proud owner of 4 rescue cats and a (healthy) obsession with CrossFit.

Fumiaki Yamashita is a seasoned professional who currently serves as the Head of Studio at Shinto Tsushin Co., Ltd. CIRCULAR DESIGN STUDIO. Throughout his career, he has accumulated valuable experience working across diverse industries, collaborating with advertising agencies, manufacturers, and printing companies in the fields of corporate and regional brand consulting, as well as marketing consulting services.

With a keen focus on circular economy and circular city principles, Fumiaki has been actively involved in various projects, particularly in municipalities. He has played a pivotal role in producing urban development initiatives grounded in the circular economy for areas such as Gamagori City in Aichi Prefecture, and Hakuba Village in Nagano Prefecture. His expertise extends to supporting the formulation of circular city visions, identifying priority areas, crafting action plans, conducting circular economy Proof of Concept (PoC) projects, and implementing sustainable practices.

In addition to his work with municipalities, Fumiaki Yamashita also lends his expertise to businesses seeking to pivot towards circular economy models. He offers valuable support to companies in their transition, facilitating circular economy education and providing consulting services to empower employees with sustainable practices. As a testament to his commitment to sustainability and corporate social responsibility, Fumiaki holds the prestigious CMI Approved Certified Sustainability (CSR) Practitioner designation, showcasing his dedication to creating positive and lasting impacts on society and the environment.
