He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Brunel University London in 2017 and has since dedicated the past seven years as an R&D Engineer and Metering Technology Manager at OGM. 🔹 About Mark Jiskoot:
Mark began his journey in the mid-1970s at Jiskoot, where he led the development of key crude oil sampling technologies that are now widely used across the industry. His leadership as Managing Director and CTO saw Jiskoot through its acquisition by Cameron, and later, its integration into Schlumberger and Sensia Global. His work with products like JetMix, CoJetix, and Jetline has left a lasting impact on crude oil measurement technologies.

Mark’s contributions to the development of industry standards include his work on ISO 3171 and various API MPMS chapters. His expertise and dedication to the field were recognized by API with a citation for “Meritorious service to the oil and gas industry.” Mark is currently the Chairman of ISO TC 28 SC-2 and continues to consult for leading organizations in the development of sampling technologies.

"Quality Measurement Standards Development, Performance Validation, and Verification (Proving)"
Mark will discuss recent developments in the standards for quality measurement, with a focus on automatic sampling and on-line water content analyzers (WCAs). He will explore how implementing a quality measurement system with low uncertainty (high accuracy) can be verified through water injection proving and highlight performance monitoring and sample system proving in crude oil measurement.

About Colin:
With over 30 years of experience in the flow metrology industry, Colin Lightbody has significantly contributed to the development of several ISO standards for Coriolis and ultrasonic flow metering. As the Deputy Chair of the British Standards Institution Committee CPI/30/5 - Velocity and Mass Methods, he brings extensive knowledge and leadership to the field. Colin has written numerous conference papers, contributed to various R&D projects, and even holds a patent for a flow meter verification technique. His career includes roles in field service, training, R&D, and marketing for a global flow measurement company, as well as consultancy work in Africa, Europe, the Middle East, America, and Australasia. Joining TÜV SÜD National Engineering Laboratory as a Principal Consultant in 2022, Colin now chairs the 2024 Global Flow Measurement Workshop Committee, where he focuses on helping industries meet the challenges of fluid flow measurement during the energy transition.

In the oil & gas industry, accurate custody transfer of crude oil relies on two critical processes: Flow Metering and Sampling. While flow metering measures total fluid volume, sampling is essential to determine the fluid’s composition, including water content. Even minor inaccuracies in sampling can lead to significant financial losses and taxation errors, potentially causing economic and political repercussions.

The SmartMix® Sampling System by OGS offers a solution to these challenges with its innovative Twin-Nozzle design, which generates intense turbulence for superior mixing efficiency. This design reduces the Nozzle-Scoop distance by 50-80%, making it ideal for space-limited environments. James has also provided in-depth measurement expertise to International Oil Companies (IOCs) and National Oil Companies (NOCs).

He has developed sophisticated algorithms for Kelton’s Flocalc and UncertaintyPlus software, which are widely utilized by energy companies globally.
