CAZ refresher training is essential for ensuring that professionals involved in combustion safety practices stay current with industry best practices, regulations, and standards. Regular updates and hands-on experiences contribute to the ongoing competence of individuals responsible for maintaining safe and efficient combustion appliances in residential settings. This session will include hands-on experiences using real-world scenarios to enhance problem-solving skills and decision-making. Here are key components and considerations that may be covered in CAZ refresher training:

HVAC Fundamentals
Evaluating the performance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems for energy efficiency is crucial for optimizing their operation and reducing energy consumption. This training will address considerations for assessing the energy efficiency of HVAC systems, such as Energy Audits, System Design and Sizing, Regular Maintenance, Upgrading Equipment, Temperature and Humidity Control, and other topics related to improving HVAC efficiency.
Building Science Principles
The Building Science Principles (BSP) training is designed to provide and improve upon the knowledge and abilities needed to perform energy-efficient home energy practices. In the BSP training, participants will learn more about the industry, best practices, updates, and expectations on heating, A/C, insulation, mechanical ventilation, and other home systems.
Building Science Principles, cont. (9 am-12 pm)
This session is a continuation of the Building Science Principles (BSP) training. The Building Science Principles (BSP) training is designed to provide and improve upon the knowledge and abilities needed to perform energy-efficient home energy practices. In the BSP training, participants will learn more about the industry, best practices, updates, and expectations on heating, A/C, insulation, mechanical ventilation, and other home systems.
NEAT/MHEA Refresher (1 pm-4pm)
This training will support using the National Energy Audit Tool (NEAT) to address specific single-family home issues, improve energy assessments, and enhance energy efficiency in the residential sector. In addition, participants will also be supported in addressing the unique characteristics of mobile homes (Mobile Home Energy Audit-MHEA) such as underfloor insulation and skirting. Participants will engage in activities and discussions to address Florida’s unique circumstances due to the climate.
This preconference session provides case manager training built upon a real-world curriculum to train, retain, and improve the skills of case managers and the leadership that guides them.
This session will:
Educate new care managers and care coordinators about the fundamentals of case management
Enhance the skills of current care managers
Improve the mentoring and leadership skills of lead case managers and supervisors

They will also learn how this focus on results is important for the Community Action Network building better communities. Other participants will have the opportunity to discuss current trends and share best practices for using and teaching ROMA in at their agencies.
Leadership is vital with learning the different characteristics of Generational Teams: Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X and Baby Boomers. Understanding the Strengths that each Generation brings to an Organization and how to get maximum productivity from Generational Teams. Building, Guiding and Supporting multi-generational teams, across generations. Understanding Generation Communication styles and how to Bridge the Gap is How to Create a Winning Team.
Language is integral to a positive awareness of diversity and inclusion. How do we speak in a way that supports peace, equality, and emotional intelligence? In this session, participants will be introduced to the concept of multicultural identity, both their own and others. They will explore how identity impacts feelings of belonging and self-perception. After reflecting on their own identity, participants will learn about unconscious bias, stereotypes and microaggressions. Specific and developmentally appropriate strategies for building inclusive communities will be shared.
Community Action Boards are governing bodies that set out the high-level vision, mission, and strategic direction for their organizations. This session will focus on the purposes, approaches, and strategies of mission-focused board engagement that Community Action boards need to succeed. The session will both inform and inspire boards to not just meet requirements but also to fulfill their purpose.
In this session, participants new to the Community Action Network will have the opportunity to learn about the Results Oriented Management and Accountability (ROMA) principles and the National Theory of Change. Starting from the premise that everyone looks at conflict in a unique way, this workshop offers a transformative approach to working with conflict as a potential for positive change. Organizational cultures that view conflict as an opportunity are better poised to maximize the benefits of their diverse workforce. In this course, participants will learn about the components, roles and needs active in conflict, identify their own conflict style, and be introduced to conflict resolution practices for the purpose of more productive and positive outcomes. Participants will engage in various exercises, including role-play for the purpose of integrating these skills into a working knowledge.
This webinar will focus on calculating assets and asset income, completing the resident income certification form, complying with the 120-day clock, the award letter, and monitoring and compliance. Additionally, it will cover new income changes that were effective as of January 1, 2024, due to The Housing Opportunity Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) rules. Most Florida communities with SHIP, HOME, CDBG, and other funds use the income rules in the HUD Handbook 4350.3 Chapters 3 and 5. The presenters will explain the changes, provide examples, and answer questions. Join us for an overview of how this impacts your work.
This session is of special benefit to the staff that is using the Casemanager-NewGen system purchased by DEO. The session will involve learning available reporting options in CaseManager-NewGen system. Participants will also learn how to use the system for FSSP Assessment and generate reports from the same. Participants will also learn how to use FASTRACK, the Online Application kiosk and the application tracker effectively. This session will be interactive with time for Q & A at the end.
Leveraging funding is critical to delivering flexibility to the WAP. NASCSP will review the LIHEAP state plan and successful strategies to maximize LIHEAP WAP flexibilities, trends, and suggestions for improved coordination between WAP, LIHEAP, and other funds. Review of the latest NASCSP Annual Funding Survey and trends. With an ever-changing mix of funding sources, grant timelines, reporting, and production quotas, it is more important than ever to keep the rules and regulations straight. Join us as we explore.

This session will provide an overview of healthy housing through the lens of The Principles Of A Healthy Home framework, describe key policies and practices that health departments and their partners can put in place at the local level, and provide an introduction to tools and resources communities can access in advancing their healthy homes efforts.
