Porschia Tolbert (she/her/hers) was born and raised in Prince George’s County, Maryland. She has two siblings and both of her parents served in the U.S. Air Force. She currently lives in San Antonio, TX, and directs the Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program for The Texas A&M University System. She discovered her interest in the built environment during childhood when her parents built their first house for their family. She went on to graduate from the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Program from C.H. Flowers High School, and to obtain a her Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Construction Engineering Technology (CET) from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU).
Early in her career, she worked for national general contractor, Turner Construction Company, where she served in many capacities including engineer, superintendent, internship program manager, community outreach coordinator, and underutilized business liaison, among others. Earlier this year, she accepted an opportunity to work for The Texas A&M University System to direct the development of their HUB Program.
Porschia is focused on facilitating conversations that develop successful and lasting business relationships in the construction industry. Her vision is an industry where leaders of underutilized business experience the circumstances, courage and resources to achieve success, and where leaders of eminent businesses actively and regularly share their paths to business knowledge, relationships and success, serving as mentors and guides to prepare the next generation of builders. She relishes in connecting high-achieving contractors to business growth opportunities, training and development resources, and in connecting owners to high-quality, innovative contractors. In her free time, she enjoys singing, journaling and spending time outdoors.
