Ken E. Nwadike, Jr., is a peace activist, motivational speaker, and video journalist known as the Free Hugs Guy online. Nwadike Jr is the founder of the Free Hugs Project, which produces motivational videos to spread love, inspire change, and raise awareness of social issues. His ‘Free Hugs’ videos have reached hundreds of millions of views on Facebook and YouTube. In 2014, Nwadike launched the Free Hugs Project to spread love in response to the bombing of the Boston Marathon. The Free Hugs Project gained popularity in 2016, as Nwadike made major news headlines for his peace-keeping efforts and de-escalating violence during protests, riots, and political rallies. Nwadike was featured in Google’s 2016 Year in Search video as a highlight of some of the year’s most defining moments. Nwadike has made many appearances on news programs and radio broadcasts worldwide, including CNN, USA Today, Good Morning Britain, and BBC News. Ben Hartranft is a 26-year-old young man who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2. At that time, he knew only 20 words and everything was a safety issue. Ben has exceeded all expectations and is strengthened by his faith in God and the people He has placed in Ben’s life. He received his diploma, works part-time for Philadelphia Eagles Game Day Staff, earned his driver’s license and treats everyone he meets like a rock star. Ben has had the extraordinary opportunity to carry the Lombardi trophy to start the ring ceremony for the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Ben’s dream came true in October 2018 when he was invited to be a guest on the Ellen show and promote Autism Awareness and funding for research. His latest adventure was traveling solo to Los Angeles and being a contestant on The Price Is Right. Ben loves being an advocate for Autism Awareness and wants to take awareness to action.
Dr. Carl J. Sheperis, Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies at Kutztown University, is a recognized expert in the application of artificial intelligence to the health professions. He has delivered keynote addresses at several conferences on this topic and serves on the AI working group for the Global Forum on Innovation in Health Professional Education for the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM). Dr. Sheperis has published articles on AI in healthcare in the National Academy of Medicine and the Journal of Technology in Counselor Education and Supervision.
With over 25 years of experience in pediatric and family mental health, Dr. Sheperis has served as an expert to various media outlets, reaching over 50,000,000 readers. He has held leadership positions in counseling, including serving as the editor-in-chief for the Journal of Counselor Preparation and Supervision, President of the Association for Assessment and Research in Counseling (AARC), and Associate Editor for the Journal of Counseling and Development.
Dr. Sheperis has authored several textbooks and published entries in various academic journals and reference volumes. He has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Counselor Educator by the Southern Association of Counselor Education and Supervision, the Counselor Education Advocacy Award, and the David K. Brooks Jr. Distinguished Mentor Award from the American Counseling Association (ACA). Throughout his career, Dr. Sheperis has been awarded over $90,000,000 in sponsored research funding and contract services.
Christian Ragland, MPA, is assistant vice president for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at AtlantiCare. He is responsible for the organization’s transformative diversity strategy, which aligns with AtlantiCare’s strategic plan. He works closely with senior leaders to cultivate an affirming and
inclusive organizational culture.
In this role, Ragland provides guidance and support to AtlantiCare’s robust Employee Resource Group program and the Equity and Diversity Council. He partners with external organizations to promote initiatives that support understanding and inclusion across communities.
Ragland received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pennsylvania, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Walden University in Minneapolis. He earned a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion for Human Resources from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Community involvement is one of Ragland’s core values. He is the founder and director of the Egg Harbor City (New Jersey) Community Leadership Academy for young men in grades 5 through 8. He leads a weekly Healthcare Careers program with the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, and serves in a leadership role at Lighthouse Community Church in Pleasantville.
Ragland serves as an executive board member and D, E & I Chair for the Jersey Shore Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and is a member of AtlantiCare’s Federally Qualified Health Center board of trustees. As an educator, he is an adjunct professor of U.S. History at Atlantic Cape Community College in Mays Landing, New Jersey.
Ragland lives in Mays Landing with his wife and three children. He enjoys traveling with family, exercising and supporting his alma mater.
Lisa Alcaro is the Regional Manager of Supports Coordination Services at Service Access & Management, Inc. Lisa is a graduate of Millersville University with a degree in Social Work and has over 20 years of experience in the field of social services and case management. She holds a Master Supervisor Certification through SAM, Inc, is an ODP Certified Investigator, and is a member of the Executive Committee for the Berks County Transition Coordinating Council in Berks County, PA. Lisa is currently one of SAM, Inc.’s Servant Leader Champions. In her free time (whatever that is), Lisa enjoys reading, traveling, and watching her two sons compete in a plethora of sporting events.
Sandi Bellis, B.A., is a Personal Safety Trainer for Service Access & Management, Inc. Sandi’s role is to provide De-escalation and Safety training and C&Y worker safety training. Sandi holds a BA in Criminal Justice and had worked for Tioga County (PA) Human Services for 27 years. She held the position of Director of Residential Services, in that position she was responsible for the residential treatment and secure detention programs as well as foster care, Independent Living, and several other C&Y programs. Sandi has been certified as a Casework Supervisor through the CWRC (Child Welfare Resource Center), Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Trainer (TCI), Safe Crisis Management Trainer (SCM) and she is a federally accredited PREA (Prison Rape Elimination Act) Auditor for juvenile facilities.
Rachel Bernini, DSW, LSW serves as the Director of People Operations at Service Access & Management (SAM). Rachel has served in various roles at SAM since 2012 with previous experience in county government social services. Rachel’s educational background is in social work, and she has almost 20 years’ experience in case management supporting various populations. Rachel has used her educational background, experience, and commitment to service to expand into the field of human resources and is currently a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. Rachel serves on SAM’s DEI Team and is committed to creating inclusive workplaces.
Jill Beveridge is the Director of Mental Health Services at Service Access & Management, Inc. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences from Penn State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from Temple University. She has over 19 years of experience in the Mental Health field, including experience overseeing programs such as; Adult Partial Hospitalization, Outpatient Services, Peer Support Services, Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Crisis Residential, and Blended Case Management.
Catriona (aka Cat) Billet was raised in York, Pennsylvania where she still resides with her husband and two daughters. Cat is the current Mental Health Blended Case Management Assistant Supervisor for Service Access & Management, Inc. in York and Adams counties in PA. Cat has a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Psychology and is working on a Master of Science in Forensic Psychology with a Sex Offender Behavior concentration. Cat has a lot of experience relating to mental health and suicide, both personally, as a family member, as a wife, and as a professional. Through her work, Cat strives to reduce suicidal ideation for all populations. When Cat is not working, she is often reading a book, spending time at the softball fields, or creating memories with her family.
Ashley Binkley is a two-time graduate from Alvernia University, with an undergraduate in Criminal Justice and a Master’s Degree in Community Leadership. She has worked as a program specialist supervisor for Intellectual Development Disability group homes, manager of a non-profit employment program through the Berks County (PA) Juvenile Probation Office and has had the pleasure of working for SAM as a Master Case Manager and mentor, as of February 2024 for 4 years.
When she am not working, she am a mother of two beautiful sons’ 4 and 9, wife of 12 years on October 13th, crochet, and bake sourdough.
Dylan Black, CCM, is an Onboarding, Outreach, and Quality Analyst for Mental Health Services with Service Access & Management, Inc. in Pennsylvania. He has been employed with SAM for 11 years. In his current role, Dylan has developed several in house tools to measure and report on line staff’s meeting quality and service delivery standards. His secondary focus has been on employee engagement and communication. Dylan has been deeply involved with integrating workflow and user experience design to promote quality service delivery and documentation. Dylan received his Master’s in Business Administration from Penn State University and his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Cedarville University. Dylan Black is also a Certified Case Manager through CCMC.
Ed Borsheim is employed by SAM, Inc. as supervisor of the Adventure Challenge Experience (ACE) program for at-risk youth in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He is an ACCT certified level one challenge course practitioner for the ACE program. He holds a B.S. degree in Elementary Education with added certification in English Education from Mansfield University of Pennsylvania. Over his thirty years of working with youth, Ed has been a soccer coach, a 9th and 10th grade English teacher, a residential youth counselor, and an ACE program coordinator. Ed enjoys spending time with his girlfriend Alivia and their pets Rudy, Poe, Loki, and Odin.
Kelly is the Clarion County Blended Case Management Supervisor for Service Access & Management, Inc. in Pennsylvania. Kelly has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Work and in 2013, obtained her Master of Science Degree in Rehabilitative Science from Clarion University. Kelly has been in case management for over 20 years, first as a case manager and then for the past 11 years as a supervisor. Kelly was in the first class of Master Case Mangers and was also a Master Supervisor for Service Access & Management Inc. Kelly has a passion for finding ways to support her staff to further their case management skills.
Janet was born in Lafayette, IN, where she still resides, and she graduated from Purdue University. She has broad experience in the social work field, and has worked in various positions including intake coordination, supervised visit facilitation, parent education, sexual abuse survivor treatment, in-home and school-based skills training & various wraparound positions. She also worked as a house manager for the ID/DD population for several years. She started working as a full-time wraparound facilitator in 2011 and has stayed in a wraparound position since then because she likes knowing that she's making a difference in people's lives on a daily basis.
Dr. Judith Cook, PhD, is an internationally recognized authority on mental health services research, specifically the study of clinical and rehabilitation outcomes of adults receiving recovery-oriented community-based services such as Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). She designs and implements innovative programs to enhance the health and behavioral health of vulnerable populations. She consults with federal, state, and local authorities on behavioral health service system redesign and alternative financing. Dr. Cook directs the Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy at the University of Illinois Chicago, and worked with WRAP’s creators to develop WRAP for Healthy Aging.
Lauren is Assistant Vice President of Care Coordination & Advanced Illness Management. She has been with the organization since 2008. Lauren has responsibility for Care Management across the enterprise (ED/Inpatient & Ambulatory), Transitions of Care, Remote Patient Monitoring, Post-Acute Services, & the Advanced Illness Management Service Line (Inpatient/Outpatient Palliative Care & Primary Care House Call Program). Most recently added to my department, Rehabilitation Services (PT/OT/Speech Therapies).
Lauren attended Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in nursing degree in 2005. In 2013, she earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing Management and Organizational Leadership (MSN) through American Sentinel University. In 2014, she received board certification in case management. She is currently enrolled in a DNP program with Rutgers University, and on target to finish mid-2025. Lauren has previous experience with Medical/Surgical & Cardiac Nursing (PCCU – now HVU, and Same Day Cardiac Cath areas), Quality & Professional Practice for the AtlantiCare Physician Group.
Lauren resides in Northfield, NJ with her S.O. CJ. Favorite past times include traveling, playing golf, relaxing beach days, drinking wine, holiday decorating and being the best dog-mom to a basset hound/lab mix rescue named Dublin and newest rescue, beagle hound mix, Penny.
Carlique Copeland is a Wellness Nurse for York/Adams county. She started with SAM in 2021. She has been a psychiatric nurse for 10 years. She started working in drug & alcohol detox/rehabs, mental health inpatient facilities and dual diagnosis programs. Working in this field has opened her eyes to looking at people from a different perspective. Mental health has been her passion. She is currently working towards many goals, specifically to become a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Outside of working as a nurse, she is a wife and mother to three amazing little ones. She loves cooking and hosting events with family and friends. What interested her the most about SAM was the vision. The vision phrase “Everyone we meet we leave better off”. Such a powerful statement and resonated with her so much. Since she started with SAM she has been welcomed, respected, & supported by many of the members of the SAM team.
Malachi Cunningham is employed by the Tioga County Department of Human Services as the AMP Specialist of the Adventure Motorbike Program for at-risk youth in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He has over twenty years of experience riding and competing in American Motorcyclist Association sanctioned races all over Pennsylvania and upstate New York. He trains at-risk youth to ride dirt bikes safely as well as motorcycle maintenance and basic repairs. He owns and operates a locksmith/security company in North Central Pennsylvania. He enjoys riding dirt bikes, picking locks, and spending time with his wife and son.
Lydia DeBiase is an Assistant Professor at Kutztown University in the Social Work Department. She teaches Case Management: An Interdisciplinary Approach and Professional Dimensions of Case Management. She worked in child welfare for 17 years as a caseworker, supervisor, and placement manager. She has also worked with juveniles adjudicated delinquent, incarcerated adults with mental illness and outpatient mental health and addiction. In addition to teaching she has a private practice that specializes in working with maltreated children. She earned a BSW from Kutztown University and an MSW and a PhD from Widener University. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Her areas of expertise include trauma-informed care, child welfare, families at risk, maltreated children, criminal justice, case management, clinical supervision, and clinical work.
Alice C. Fischer, MSS, LCSW is a doctoral student at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She has experience with program development and evaluation in outpatient, residential, hospital and cross-organizational settings. She currently works as a grants manager KU’s Department of Social Work.
Dennis worked in Philadelphia’s Behavioral Health System for over 40 years. Starting as a Music Therapist, he later served as Team Leader of the Community Treatment Teams (CTT). Most recently he served as a Training Specialist and then Program Director at the Behavioral Health Training and Education Network. Dennis authored the Philadelphia Behavioral Health Case Management Orientation curriculum. Local, state, and national conference topics have included the CTT “Philadelphia Experience,” Time & Stress Management, Training Case Managers, Crisis Management, and Enriching Recovery through Cultural Competence. Dennis earned a B.S. in Education as well as a Master of Music Therapy Degree. Prior to retirement, he was certified through the Crisis Prevention Institute and Mental Health First Aid. He holds an Advanced Certificate of Culturally Competent Human Services from Temple University. Dennis served for many years as a NACM board member.
Kelli Flinn is from Hanover, Pennsylvania where she resides with her two dogs, Rex and Bear. She was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and has resided in South Central PA most of her life. She has 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. She is currently a Blended Case Manager for Service Access & Management Inc. in York and Adams counties of Pennsylvania. Kelli has a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice and Political Science from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and is working on her Master’s Degree in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling at West Virginia University. Kelli has over 4 years of experience in Drug & Alcohol / Mental Health Counseling as well as over 10 years of experience working with the Juvenile population in some capacity. When Kelli is not working you can find her somewhere hiking with her dogs, spending time with her family or working on a new Lego set.
Ron Frederick is the Director of Safety and Security for Service Access and Management (SAM), Inc. He came to this position with over 20 years of experience in law enforcement, having spent seven years as a Detective/Sergeant, eight years as Chief of Police, and 15 years as a use of force instructor. He served for 13 years on the Dauphin County Crisis Response Team (SWAT), including five years as a Specialty Teams Leader. Additionally, he spent seven years as a member of the Dauphin County Joint Investigative Team, working closely with Children and Youth Services and the District Attorney’s Office to investigate reports of child abuse. Ron has been an adjunct instructor/trainer at the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) Police Academy for 11 years and teaches courses on Patrol Vehicle Operations, Mechanics of Arrest, Tactical Firearms, Recognizing Special Needs, and Scenario Trainings. In his current position, he developed a scenario-based training program for human services caseworkers throughout Pennsylvania. Ron and his team developed an Act of Violence Response training, Drug and Alcohol Awareness program, and assisted in developing SAM’S De-escalation and Safety Training (DST) program.
Alondra Garza has a passion for supporting individuals and families on their journey to achieving their goals, Alondra has six years of dedicated experience in the field of behavioral health. Alondra earned her BA in child development and MA from Florida Institute of Technology in Applied Behavior Analysis. Throughout her career, she has held a variety of positions, each one contributing to her comprehensive understanding of the complexities of mental health and the importance of individualized support. Which has brought her to CCTC with a mission of transformative power of empathy, understanding, and evidence-based practices for underserved communities to make a meaningful difference in their life.
Janice Gasker, DSW, LCSW, has been a professor of social work for over thirty years. She is the author of numerous journal articles and several books, including Generalist Social Work Practice (SAGE, 2nd Edition, 2023). She serves as BSW Program Director at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
María E. González, MSW, ACSW 102788, is a Bilingual Intern Mental Health Clinician at CCHC and serves as a Clinical Therapist. Ms. González has a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California, a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology (Law and Society; Pan-African American Studies) from California State University, Los Angeles, and an Associate degree in Psychology and Child Development from Los Angeles Valley College. She has over 20 years of social service experience providing services for persons affected by HIV/AIDS, substance users/abusers, homeless and low-income individuals including children, youth, families, and older adults.
Nicholas Grinnell is employed by SAM, Inc. as coordinator of the Adventure Challenge Experience (ACE) program for at-risk youth in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He was an intern for the ACE program for the summer of 2022. He holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Keuka College in New York and is part of the Pi Gamma Mu honors society. Nicholas enjoys time with his family, hiking, basketball, and traveling.
Jasie Hassinger is a Regional Director of IDD Services with Service Access & Management, Inc. She has been employed with SAM Inc. for 6 years and has approximately 10 years of experience working with Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, and the dually diagnosed population. Jasie has experience ranging from case management to leadership. Jasie graduated from Lock Haven University with her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and is now pursuing her Master of Social Work through Widener University. Jasie promotes leadership through open communication and empowering staff to explore their leadership potential.
Colleen Hauck is a wellness nurse for Service Access & Management in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. She is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. She has practiced nursing for over 20 years. Her background in nursing is mainly Psychiatric Nursing working with inpatient behavioral health patients from nurse to manager to director of new hospital units. Colleen was fortunate to travel to many different states and help to organize and restructure behavioral health units with the hopes to improve mental health care in communities. Her focus in life is to play a role in breaking the mental health stigma! She chose this position to continue working with behavioral health patients focusing on mental and physical wellness by implementing and promoting the Behavioral Health Home program through the insurance company Community Care Behavioral Health. Colleen just completed her first year at SAM and looks forward to many new learning opportunities.
Her hobbies are buying and selling vintage clothing, antiquing, metal detecting and most recently spending time with her first grandchild.
Rebekah Hurst, MSW, LSW is a supports coordinator at Service Access & Management, Inc. She is a social worker experienced in working with individuals with disabilities.
Rebekah holds a Bachelors in Psychology degree from Messiah College and a Masters in Social Work degree from Kutztown University. She’s been a licensed social worker in the state of Pennsylvania since 2022 and is a professional member of the North American Association of Christians in Social Work.
Her professional interests include trauma-informed care, vulnerable populations, spirituality and social work, and community empowerment.
Ruth Kurtz, AA, is a Master Case Manager and Mentor at Service Access & Management, Inc. in Central Pennsylvania. Ruth has been working in the social services field for over (20) years, with a total of (15) years directly in the mental health field, (7) years as a case manager. Ruth received the National Case Manager of the year award in 2021. Ruth is dedicated to help her consumers meet their goals and be successful in the community. Ruth has demonstrated how working collaboratively with community providers has had a positive impact in the lives of those she works with.
Stephanie Lawson, LCSW, is a Mental Health Regional & Hospital Director with Service Access and Management, Inc. in Central Pennsylvania. She has been employed with SAM Inc. for over 13 years and has over 17 years experience in the Human Services field. Stephanie graduated with her Master’s Degree from Temple University and achieved her Clinical Social Work License in the state of Pa.
Stephanie was awarded the XCEL Supervisor Award during the 2017 National Association of Case Management Conference. Stephanie has displayed effective leadership and innovation in her team’s success, having case managers receive the National Case Manager of year awards and had a supervisor receive the Master Case Management Supervisor award. Stephanie has encouraged and supported her team members to move into their own leadership roles.
Edith J. Lopez, MA. is the Division Director of the Community Based Services at Children’s Crisis Treatment Center (CCTC). Mrs. Lopez is responsible for the direct oversight of all community-based programming including Intensive Behavioral Health Services (IBHS), Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Family Based Services, Blended Case Management, Abriendo Caminos, Tamaa, and the Summer Therapeutic Enrichment Program (STEP). Mrs. Lopez has been working at CCTC for 26 years and is dedicated to ensuring that children and their families impacted by of trauma and mental health challenges receive the highest quality of care. Mrs. Lopez earned her BSW from La Salle University and a MA in counseling from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.
"Pennsylvania State University in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and minoring in Sociology. She is currently enrolled in an MBA program, attending Pennsylvania State University Smeal College of Business. Nicole's current work efforts include creating innovative ways to recruit and onboard staff in a way that promotes and grows engaged, initiative-taking. and determined employees. Nicole is passionate about nurturing all dimensions of wellness, empowering individuals to foster change and growth, and finding time to laugh and connect with others.
Rebekka is the Onboarding, Outreach, and Quality supervisor for the South Central and Western Region for Service Access and Management, Inc. in Pennsylvania. She has been employed with Service Access and Management (SAM) since 2019. Rebekka graduated with her Bachelors of Social Work from Limestone University in 2010 where she was awarded the Social Work Student of the Year. Rebekka graduated with her Master of Social Work program at Walden University in May 2024 Summa Cum Laude with an embedded trauma-informed certification and received her Social Work License in August 2024. Her passions include Mental health, fighting for human rights and social change while making communities stronger, families healthier and increasing compassion in all areas of life. Rebekka's future plan is to become a Clinical Clinician.
Jelitza holds the role of Director of Employee Experience at Service Access & Management, Inc. She has been at SAM for 27 years, 18 of which have been dedicated to Human Resources, now known as People Operations. She actively participates in various committees within the company, including the DEI&A Committee, Self-Care Sanctuary Planning Team, and leads the Comeback Club. These initiatives aim to foster a healthy and inclusive workplace environment, ultimately attracting and retaining top talent. Outside of work, Jelitza finds joy in practicing yoga, hiking, and spending time with her family and two dogs.
Ervin Munro has an M.S. in School Psychology and a B.S. in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He’s worked as a licensed School Psychologist, Educator, Case Manager, Director of Social Services, and Operations Manager in a medical clinic. Currently, he works as a private Educator, Trainer, and Consultant.
Mr. Munro has provided services in several multicultural settings for unhoused and low-income persons, persons with mental illnesses, chronic health conditions, physical and intellectual disabilities, post-incarcerated, veterans, substance users/abusers, older adults, persons affected by HIV/AIDS, homeless and runaway youth, hospice and homecare patients, and immigrants/ refugees.
He served 8 years on the NACM Board of Directors and was Chair of the Membership Committee.
Shannon Napoli is a Regional Manager for the Early Intervention Service Line at Service Access & Management. She has been a part of the team at Service Access & Management for 17 years with experience in Children’s mental health case management and Early Intervention. Shannon has 25 years’ experience with Human services, specializing in Childrens Partial Hospitalization, Crisis Intervention, Early Intervention, and teaching secondary education, Social Science. Shan-non is a Trauma Competent Professional and holds certification for this. Shannon was previously a crisis prevention instructor. Shannon holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Pennsylvania State University in Secondary Education Social Science. Shannon is one of SAM, Inc Servant Leadership Champions and enjoys teaching and interacting with others to always leave anyone she meets “better off.”
Jim Peightel is a general and addiction Psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience serving Philadelphia in a wide range of treatment settings. His work has focused on team-based treatment approaches, novel program development, and systems-oriented integration of service for the chronic mentally ill, medically ill, homeless, and disenfranchised. Dr. Peightel supports various RHD programs including FaSST/Connections a shelter-based mental health case management unit, and is a consultant psychiatrist at Project HOME. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Leadership Committee (PPLC), a fellow in the APA, and was the 2014 recipient of the Philadelphia Psychiatric Society’s Robert Jones Awards, honoring a psychiatrist for lifelong commitment and service to the chronically mentally ill.
Veronica Pilon, LCSW, is the Clinical Director with Service Access and Management, Inc. in Central Pennsylvania. She has been employed with SAM Inc. for 3 years and has over 18 years of experience in the Mental Health field. Veronica graduated with her Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois Chicago and achieved her Clinical Social Work License in the State of Pennsylvania. Veronica is a Board Member of The Edible Classroom and a practicing Clinician in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Veronica promotes leadership through mentoring with passion and guiding her teams to strengthen and elevate their leadership potential.
Melissa is the Nurse Manager for the Transitional Nurse Care Team and Remote Telemonitoring Department. She has been with Atlanticare since 2005. Her responsibilities include overseeing the day to day activities of the team and assisting in expanding care management for patients thorough out the local area.
Melissa attended Rutgers University (Camden, NJ) and earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing in 2005. She started her career as med/surg RN and moved to the ER for 13 years. She started in Care management in 2017. Over the years, she has help with improvement process thorough out the hospital and educating staff members. She plans to pursue an MBA in the near future.
Melissa resides in Wading River, NJ with her fiancé Chris and step-daughter MacKenzie. She is a dog-mom to Mack. Her favorite past times are traveling to her family cabin in PA, hunting, hiking local trails, cooking, spending time with her nephews, and cheering MacKenzie on at sporting events.
Megan Richard is the Community Wellness Program Supervisor at Service Access and Management, Inc. since 2015. Megan has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University where she majored in psychology with a minor in cognitive neuroscience and has a Master of Business Administration from Holy Family University. Megan has over 15 years of experience in the human services field. Megan is the Servant Leader Champion for the Community Wellness Service Line at SAM, inc. Megan is always there to help leave people better off. When not working, Megan enjoys the outdoors with her goats, dogs, cats, ducks, and chickens.
Jenna has been an employee at SAM since 2008, starting first as a Service Coordinator in Early Intervention before becoming a supervisor in 2014. Throughout her time at SAM, Jenna has worked within Early Intervention servicing children from birth to three years of age. Jenna holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Kutztown University. Jenna also is involved in the PTOs within the local school district and has most recently served as President of Lorane Elementary Association of Parents and Teachers.
Jenna lives in Reading, Pennsylvania with her husband, two sons and dog. Jenna and her family enjoy attending sporting events and spending time at the Jersey Shore.
Terri Salata is the Director of Administrative Entity Support Services and has been with Service Access and Management since July of 2004. Throughout her 36+ year career, she has worked in various capacities but always within or on behalf of County Government. As Director of AE Support Services, Terri supports her team to operate and provide quality administrative oversight of local Intellectual Disability, Autism and Early Intervention Systems. She is resourceful, collaborative and always interesting in serving others. Terri attended the 2006 Schuylkill County Leadership Program, she is a 2021 graduate of the PA Capacity Building Institute, is an ODP Certified Quality Manager and has participated in numerous state and local workgroups. In addition, she is the mother of two amazing young woman, enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Janine Sejuit-Gnall is the Director of Budget & Grant Management at Service Access and Management, Inc. Janine has a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration- Finance from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Louisiana Monroe. She has nearly twenty years of experience in Financial Planning & Analysis and Operational Finance.
Melissa Shingle, MPS, NADD-DDS, is a Regional Director of Mental Health Services at Service Access & Management, Inc., Berks and Schuylkill Counties, Pennsylvania. Ms. Shingle has had a pivotal role in multiple programs during her 15 years of service at SAM, Inc. Previously, Ms. Shingle provided oversight to the Forensic Diversion Program, Forensic Blended Case Management, and Forensic Peer Services in Berks County. Ms. Shingle continues to participate in various Justice-Involved Initiatives, including Nationally recognized Stepping-Up. She oversaw the work that further developed the Forensic Mental Health Diversion Program as well as case management services. In addition to her work in the behavioral health field, she continues to work as an evaluation and research associate, writing grant proposals, analyzing data, and working with a highly qualified evaluation team for federally-funded substance abuse grant programs focusing on at-risk populations. Ms. Shingle is a graduate of Alvernia College with a Bachelor Degree in Forensic Science and Criminal Justice and Pennsylvania State University with a Masters of Professional Studies in the Psychology of Leadership. Ms. Shingle has also presented at the National Association of Forensic Counselors in 2018, as well as National Association of Case Management Conference in 2021 and 2023.

Sam Shore, LCSW, is a Principal at TriWest Consulting Group. His focus is on creating recovery- and resiliency-oriented systems of care in publicly-funded settings. Mr. Shore has extensive leadership experience in public mental health services policy development, operations, and evaluation. He also served as a state director of mental health services for veterans and their families, and as project director of a jail diversion and trauma recovery grant. He serves as the Director of the Center on Mental Health Services Research and Policy’s Academy for Policymakers at the University of Illinois Chicago.
Curtis Stanley is employed by SAM, Inc. as Coordinator of the Adventure Challenge Experience (ACE) program for at-risk youth in Tioga County, Pennsylvania. He is an ACCT certified level one challenge course practitioner for the ACE program. Curtis has worked in children services for nearly six years, working in a residential treatment facility and as the ACE Coordinator. In his free time, Curtis enjoys wrenching on anything with an engine, playing with his puppy Jane, and performing music with his beloved guitar.
Dr. Strickland graduated from Bryn Mawr College with a Doctorate in Psychology focused on experimental research and neuroscience. Past positions include a faculty position at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and affiliate faculty positions at Widener University and Springfield College. He currently has guest lecturer privileges at the Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, the Rutgers School of Social Work and an affiliate professor position at Thomas Jefferson University, East Fall Campus in the Community and Trauma Counseling program. Dr. Strickland is the owner of Biobehavioral Education and Consultation, LLC.
Rebekah Super, BS serves as the AE Support Manager at Service Access & Management (SAM). Rebekah has almost ten (10) years’ experience working within the human services field. Rebekah has primarily served within the field of developmental and intellectual disabilities with a background in direct service, case management, and leadership. In addition to her current role, Rebekah has served on SAM’s DEI Team since its inception and is committed to creating and supporting inclusive environments.
Daniel Tice is an Onboarding, Outreach, and Quality Manager for the Early Intervention Program with Service Access & Management, Inc. Dan has been employed by SAM for the past 12 years. In his current role Dan is responsible for the Onboarding of new EI staff, program/SAM outreach, and quality service management for the program. Dan is also responsible for program management of the Western Region for EI Service Coordination Services. Dan has received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a concentration in Psychology as well as a Master’s Degree in Psychology with a concentration in Public Administration and Social Change.
John Vafeas is the Chair of the Department of Social Work at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. He completed undergraduate degrees in both Greece and the United States and received his MSW and DSW from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Vafeas’ clinical and research work centered in the field of vocational rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities and for the past 25 years he has taught at Kutztown University. He has held previous faculty appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and Ryder University. Dr. Vafeas’ research includes services delivery systems, policy and program evaluation, accreditation, and graduate and undergraduate social work curriculum design. John joined the NACM board in 2014.
Colleen is a Blended Case Manager at Services Access and Management in Berks County, PA. She was born and raised in Bronx, New York City and moved to Mohnton, Pennsylvania when she was 16 years old. She attended Reading Area Community College and obtained an Associate Degree in General Studies in 2011 and proceeded to Kutztown University where she graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Her hobbies are playing soccer, spending time with her dog and being with her family.
Carrie Weber is a Personal Safety Trainer for Service Access and Management (SAM), Inc. She is responsible for De-escalation and Safety Training, Scenario Training, First Aid and CPR, Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training, Interview Training, and is part of the Case Closure Mitigation Team for Older Adult Protective Services. She retired as a Sergeant from a police department in Cumberland County. During her career as a police officer, she oversaw all criminal investigations in her department and was the lead investigator of all major crimes, to include homicide, domestic violence, rape, and crimes against children. Additionally, Carrie was the primary crime scene processor. She was a member of the Cumberland County Drug Task Force, and also assisted the Attorney General’s Office as a Tactical Flight Officer. She participated in the Cumberland County update of the MDIT protocol. For the past ten (10) years, she has served as Adjunct Instructor/Trainer at the Harrisburg Area Community College (HACC) Police Academy in Defensive Tactics, Physical Fitness, Admissions & Confessions, First Aid and CPR, and Scenarios.
Dr. Wei earned her doctoral degree in social work from University of Texas at Arlington. She teaches research related courses, introduction to Social Work and Social Welfare, and practice courses. Dr. Wei's most recent scholarship is focused on social and economic development, health rights, critical thinking, substance use prevention, and elderly social isolation services. Dr. Wei has presented papers in international and national conferences. She has several publications in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr. Mary Rita Weller, Assistant Professor, teaches full-time at Kutztown University's Department of Social Work. She has over 20-years clinical experience working with individuals that have experienced trauma, as well as supporting sexual minorities and individuals with disabilities. Dr. Weller holds undergraduate degrees in sociology and Spanish from the State University of New York, Oneonta. She received her Master of Social Work from Temple University in Philadelphia, PA. She received her Doctor of Philosophy degree in education with a concentration in human sexuality from Widener University in Chester, PA. She is licensed in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in social work
Dave has 44 years of experience in the behavioral health field. He began his case management work with Central Behavioral Health in 1980 and retired in 2024. Central’s case management department employs staff providing support to children, transitional age youth, adults, and older adults. Central has it’s main office in Norristown, PA and a satellite office in Willow Grove, PA. Also, Dave is the board president of a local human services collaborative named the Interagency Council of Norristown, a board member of the National Association of Case Management, and a member of the College of Education & Humans Services Advisory Board at Shippensburg University.
Jaclyn "Jackie" Wolfe is a Blended Case Manager for Service, Access & Management, Inc. Jackie was worked in a variety of social service settings over the last 13.5 years. Jackie got her bachelor’s degree in social work from Mansfield University in 2010. Jackie's current role is to provide case management services to consumers in Clarion County. Jackie has a passion for helping others work through difficult times in their life, watching them overcome some of lives hardest obstacles and ultimately helping them to reach their greatest potential. Jackie has been doing this in her role as a Blended Case Manager for the past 2 years.
Shawn Wunder is a learning & development architect, website developer, game designer, and instructor. He holds a Master's Degree from Bloomsburg University in Instructional Technology and certifications in eLearning and Instructional Game Design. He has spent over a decade assisting nonprofits with their technological needs.
Katie Xanthopoulos is the Associate Housing Coordinator at Service Access and Management, Inc. Katie is a graduate of Elizabethtown College with a degree in Sociology. Katie began working for Service Access and Management, Inc. upon graduating in May 2015, first as a Blended Case Manager and then as an Administrative Case Manager in the Base Service Unit. In 2020, she decided to change paths, but returned to Service Access and Management, Inc. in August 2022 as the Associate Housing Coordinator. Katie supervises a Peer Housing Support Program, as well as a Supportive Living Program. She is also a Servant Leader Champion. Katie has a passion for helping others, advocating for those she serves, and spreading awareness to leave everyone she meets better off. When not working, Katie spends time with her son and her dog.

Formerly a creative director of Bayard Advertising in New York, he helped Cancer Treatment Center of America recruit healthcare workers nationwide. Now in public service, he's leading Lifestoryti.me to help people living with ADRD through experience design and co-creation.
Kristen has been an employee at SAM since 2008, starting first as a service coordinator before becoming a supervisor in 2019. Throughout her time at SAM, Kristen has worked within Early Intervention servicing children from birth to three years of age. Kristen has a Graduate/Master of Education/Urban Education degree. She also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish and a dual certification in both Special Education and Elementary Education. Before working in Early Intervention, Kristen worked both in daycares and elementary schools as a teacher.
