Dr. Jennie Joyner is a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with expertise in neonatal and pediatric critical care, where her nursing career began over 17 years ago. A dedicated advocate for health equity and advanced practice leadership, Dr. Joyner has built her career on collaboration, service, and lifelong learning.
She earned her BSN from Milligan College (TN), MSN from Duke University (NC), and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Dr. Joyner currently serves as the Lead Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in the Newborn Nursery at St. David’s North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
Dr. Joyner is the co-founder and chair of the first Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Council at her hospital, aimed to foster belonging and elevate the voice of APPs through shared governance. She also serves as President of the Austin Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) and is a member of NAPNAP’s National DEI committee. She serves on the steering committee for the City of Austin Maternal Health Equity Collaborative aimed to advance citywide multiorganizational partnerships focused on health equity for mothers and babies. Her current research focuses on newborn and pediatric health equity, specifically for late preterm infants, examining care delivery through a social determinants of health lens. Dr. Joyner believes that multidisciplinary collaboration, advocacy, and service—delivered with a joyful heart—are essential to driving meaningful change.
