Gina Bigler is the Director of Construction for the $19B John F. Kennedy Airport Redevelopment Program. Gina currently oversees all construction work associated with the program, including two state of the art new terminals; roadways, bridges, utilities, airfield paving and parking garage construction. Gina has 15 years of Port Authority experience, beginning as a Structural Engineer on major projects at Newark Liberty International Airport and Teterboro Airports. She was also a Project Manager for the LGA Airport Redevelopment Program where she assisted with the procurement and selection of LaGuardia Gateway Partners, the Developer responsible for the operation and construction of New Terminal B. She later served as the Senior Design Manager for the LGA Redevelopment Program where she managed Port Authority Engineering Department reviews of the New Terminal B design. Gina holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York. She is an Associate Design-Build Professional and Envision Sustainability Professional. She is also an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) and the Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA).
Michael Vavrica, PE is the Resident Engineer for the construction of the $9B New Terminal One project at John F Kennedy International Airport. New Terminal One will be a 23 gate, state of the art terminal and when completed will be JFK’s largest terminal, at 2.4m square feet. Michael has over 10 years of Port Authority experience working in the Construction Management Division and has spent the majority of his career at JFK Airport. Prior to working on the New Terminal One project, Michael managed critical airside runway and taxiway projects including the reconstruction of Runway 13L-31R. Michael holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College and is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of NY. He is also an Envision Sustainability Professional.
Ankita Rathi, AICP, ENV SP, is a certified planner with 15 years of experience in transportation planning and economic development projects. As a Transportation Planning Manager at VHB, she leads mobility planning at the Hauppauge office and collaborates with VHB offices across the northeast region on multiple active transportation and safety action plans. Her experience in transportation planning projects includes statewide active transportation plans, county-wide regional mobility plans, municipal safety action plans, and neighborhood-specific walkability improvement studies.
Robi Islam, PhD, PE, PTOE, ENV SP, is a seasoned traffic operations and ITS engineer with over fourteen years of experience in both private and public sectors. He is skilled in traditional and advanced traffic engineering, including connected vehicle technology, ITS and signal system design, active traffic management, and adaptive signal control system. Robi also excels in developing microscopic traffic simulation models using state-ot-the-art modeling tools.
