Cyber Attacks to Critical Port Infrastructure • A Terminal Threat with The Honorable Lucian Niemeyer, CEO, Building Cyber Security

Recent national headlines describing the cyber infiltration of U.S. infrastructure by other Nations has focused attention on the vulnerability of rail and ports to support both national security and commercial logistics in times of conflict. This emerging cyber threat to the connected operational technologies (i.e. cranes, container handling equipment, automatic identification systems, fire controls) raises the importance of the USCG's Maritime Cybersecurity Assessment & Annex Guide for MTS owners and operators. Facility Safety Assessment are critical to identify physical security and cybersecurity vulnerabilities, and to develop plan/investments to address them. Cyber attacks to ports can not only exploit information, but can potentially cause loss of life and property damage. Lucian will review the current federal actions to protect critical port infrastructure and offer prudent solutions to mitigate your cyber risk.
