Michael has practiced law for twelve years as a Claims Attorney with SureTec Insurance Company, now Markel Surety, where he is responsible for the avoidance, handling, and resolution of construction-related disputes, as well as providing underwriting support. He also serves as a mediator for primarily construction and insurance disputes, including complex, multi-party disputes.
Michael is a graduate of the University of Texas (B.A. 1999) and the University of Tulsa College of Law (J.D. 2007), where he served as Managing Editor of the Tulsa Law Review. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas Construction Law Section and the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee of the Tort and Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. He is Board Certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in Construction Law, and he obtained his formal training in mediation at the University of Texas Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution.

Scott G. Olson is Vice President & Director of Contractor Support Services for Markel Surety in Austin, Texas. Mr. Olson’s responsibilities include the managing of performance and payment bond claims on behalf of Markel Surety and the oversight of Markel Surety’s in house Funds Disbursement Services program which is operated under SureTec Information Systems, Inc. Mr. Olson is a member of the State Bar of Texas Construction Law Section, ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section and serves as a Vice Chair of the ABA Fidelity and Surety Law Committee. He also serves as the Chair of the SFAA Surety Claims Advisory Committee and is on the Board of Directors for the National Bond Claims Association. Mr. Olson received a B.S. from the University of North Texas and completed mediation training at the Straus Institute for Dispute Resolution at Pepperdine University.
