USA National Emergency Alert! Workplace alcohol and substance abuse are at historically high levels due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the legalization of marijuana. These concurrent events make our jobs more challenging by monitoring additional employees and coworkers for impairment and potential work-related injuries. Kristina Bowden and Cindy Tait will help you understand, navigate, assess, and document reasonably suspicious employee behavior in this presentation. Identifying impaired individuals corresponds with larger industry objectives; injury and workplace risk reduction while supporting and emphasizing employee wellness. The talk culminates with an overview of a tool for supervisors to assess impairment and a decision-making algorithm for further evaluation to remove an employee from duty.

Across the United States there our policy changes taking place related to greenhouse gases, air quality, environmental justice, sea level rise and a host of other climate or environmental requirements or conditions. No industry is at the forefront of this more then freight, logistics and port operations.

This panel will look at the changing regulatory climate that surrounds the port and its many users, what's being done across the world in best practices and what are the financial and operational impacts to be able to comply with the multiple changing rules and regulations now being thrust upon the various sectors of port operations. In addition, the panelists will talk about various public and private incentives and the financial models that work around investing in renewable energy, resiliency, energy efficiency and electrification. further the panel we'll discuss some of the new requirements from the various port authorities related to vehicles and transportation infrastructure both on port and off. New requirements related to diesel emissions, engine types, regulatory reporting and other requirements are putting increased pressure on port operators.

The panel will look at the challenges going forward that the industry is facing both today and what is expected into the future.

ESG, environmental justice and other metrics are becoming increasingly important for both Community relationships, regulatory compliance, industry acceptance, and financial investments.

Finally, the panel will engage in a robust dialogue with the audience about the various challenges being faced add individual ports related to the environment or energy.
