This year's recipient of the ASU ROTC Army Scholarship is Cadet Laura O'Donnell.
Cadet Laura O'Donnell hails from Tucson, Arizona. Cadet O'Donnell comes from a family of six who value selfless service. When she is not studying or fulfilling her obligations for ROTC, she loves to play my violin, guitar, and piano, as well as write music. Currently, Cadet O'Donnell is working toward an undergraduate degree in nursing, intending to serve as an active duty nurse in the United States Army. She has three older brothers who inspired her through their service in the Navy and Marine Corps to follow in their footsteps. From a young age, Cadet O'Donnell believed nursing was her calling as she always held an interest in medicine and loved to care for others. In high school, she began cultivating this passion by participating in sports medicine, tactical medicine courses, and EMT classes.
One quote that resonates with Cadet O'Donnell is by General Douglas MacArthur and acted as the catalyst for her desire to serve in the military. The quote says "Duty, honor, country: Those three hallowed words reverently dictate what you ought to be, what you can be, what you will be."
