Mercy Nenelwa Kitomari, Policy and Government Lead at GrowTrī Tanzania and Founder of
Nelwa's Ice Cream in Tanzania, believes e-mobility is the future of transportation in Africa. With
over 10 years of experience in entrepreneurship in the ice cream industry,
her company specializes in crafting and distributing Nelwa'sGelato, an award-winning homemade
ice cream.
Currently, Mercy holds a key policy lead role at TRi, an electric vehicle company. She is passionate
about empowering others and recently completed Harvard Business
School's online course on Power and Influence for Positive Impact. Mercy works closely with
various Tanzanian Ministries and regulators and serves as an assistant and
facilitator for the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), training 400 women across 11
regions in Tanzania, an initiative supported by the U.S. White House through the local embassy.
At TRi, Mercy registered the first TRi electric bajaji on the TRA system with the fuel type showing
Electricity. She fought together with a strong team to qualify for the 0% import duty and has been
actively engaging with other stakeholders to advance the industry, making strides as one of the
few women in the eMobility sector. The company has successfully reached 100 vehicles on the
ground.

For nearly 15 years, Dr. Kongola has worked around geospatial and remote

research, particularly with ESRI ArcGIS Suite, ERDAS, ENVI and QGIS – with

Theresia Teddy Mcha is the Co-founder and Executive Director of the Amshaamsha Foundation which aims to support women and youth in combating the effects of climate change in marginalized communities in Africa. She has a strong background in Agribusiness and private sector development for rural development.
She also co-founded Fraxen Consult Limited, a company that coordinates the Tanzania Distributed Energy Ecosystem Model (DREEM) project promoting clean energy access to rural communities.
Teddy worked for 10 years for the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as a Senior Agricultural Advisor. She has also worked with Wageningen University & Research in promoting the potato industry through the Centre for Development of the Potato Industry in Tanzania playing a strategic & Management role.
Teddy serves communities by promoting innovative technologies in developing economies, through renewable energy as an enabler. In the past 13 years, she worked with different communities; national and international development initiatives in East Africa.
It is her striving ambition to see affordable and reliable energy access to rural communities realized and marginalized communities empowered with competencies in combating the effects of climate change.

Prosper Magali has been actively engaged in the renewable energy sector in Tanzania for over 20 years
now. He is one of the founders and Directors of Ensol Tanzania Limited (www.ensol.co.tz) an
Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company in renewable energy space in Tanzania and
East Africa. He has been involved in development of small and medium scale renewable energy projects,
including minigrids and hybrid systems for rural electrification and industrial growth.
Prosper has served as a board member for Alliance for Rural Electrification, ARE (www.ruralelec.org),
an international business association based in Brussels, Belgium for 4 years from 2018 to 2022; an
opportunity that made him get actively involved in policy advocacy and sector development for
decentralized renewable energy and rural electrification in all over Africa.
He has also authored a book, titles “Anza, Kua na Stawi katika Biashara na Miradi” literally translated as
“Begin, Grow and Prosper in Doing Business” that equip entrepreneurs with skills and knowledge to
navigate into the entrepreneurship journey.

She worked in different countries and across Tanzania with numerous International and Government organizations including the UNDP, World Bank (WB), Tanzania Bureau of Standards, Rural Energy Agency (REA) and TIB Development Bank. She transitioned to a role as a Project Manager at UpEnergy Group - Tanzania, where she led a team in conducting studies focused on understanding the adoption of Electric cooking in households using charcoal/firewood as their primary cooking fuel. Her aim is to reduce reliance on traditional fuels and promote safer, carbon emission-free electric cooking. She was able to study the behaviour of traditional households during the transition to modern cooking devices and address barriers for their uptake/adoption.
She currently oversees various projects aimed at promoting cleaner technologies and reducing emissions and works with field teams in the capacity of operations manager. Her responsibilities include monitoring project implementation and ensuring they effectively reach and impact communities that heavily rely on traditional charcoal/firewood cook stoves.

Douglas Ronoh is a GIS Associate, in the Energy Access Explorer program based in Nairobi, Kenya. He is working on advancing WRI’s integrated geospatial energy planning work in the Sub-Saharan Africa region, and the enhancement of Energy Access Explorer, an online, open, collaborative platform of actionable data to facilitate access to energy in unserved and underserved areas.
Before joining WRI, Douglas worked as a Platform Configuration Engineer at Esri Eastern Africa where he provided support to clients through configuring and deploying GIS solutions, end-user training and technical support. Prior to that he worked for Powerhive East Africa, a solar energy technology venture, as a GIS Data Acquisition Agent where he identified and mapped out potential areas for solar micro-grid construction and design of the distribution and service network for solar energy to the households.
