Muthoni Kanyana
ESG ExpertMuthoni is an ESG (Environmental and Social Governance) expert certified by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) as their Africa region partner. She’s passionate about Climate Change and Sustainability and was part of the African Sustainability Leadership Program by the University of Cambridge. Muthoni has vast experience in Sustainability and ESG Strategy and Communications Management and GRI reporting. She has successfully run MK-Africa, an ESG Consultancy for close to ten years during which time she has worked with entities such as Safaricom, Plantations et Huileries du Congo (PHC), Sasini, TotalEnergies, HFC and YALI East, West and Southern Africa. She previously worked in the banking industry for ten years in senior management roles. Muthoni has also handled various ESG-related capacity building for several large and medium sized corporate organizations in the region.
As a leadership coach certified by the International Coaching Federation, Muthoni is passionate about building up the next generation of ESG leaders. She therefore founded the #MyLittleBigThing Sustainability Innovation Challenge in 2017. Through #MyLittleBigThing, MKAfrica partners with its clients and other organizations to train and coach undergraduate university students from across Africa on ESG innovation.
Muthoni is also a CIM Chartered Marketer who is dedicated to supporting companies in Africa to connect their brand success to ESG.
