The U.S. Department of Education is launching a multi-million-dollar program as part of the FAFSA Student Support Strategy to help school districts, state, nonprofits and other public and private organizations with efforts to boost FAFSA completion. The program will provide up to $50 million for grantees and will be implemented by ECMC to support organizations with demonstrated experience expanding college access and enrollment. The funding will be prioritized for organizations currently working with schools and districts, and those that have deep ties with students and families which have the reach and capacity to help decrease barriers and increase FAFSA submissions. It will also facilitate FAFSA submission clinics, including through partnerships with schools and districts, and provide transportation support as needed. Recently, CoSN released the CoSN 2024 State of EdTech Leadership Report, now in its eleventh year. This annual report is based on findings gathered from CoSN’s 2024 State of EdTech District Leadership Survey. Through an analysis of the most recent survey responses, the Report provides a national perspective on the current challenges and successes within the EdTech landscape.
Cybersecurity continues to be a top priority according to respondents of the 2024 survey. Data privacy and security also fall into the high priority arena. The challenges around AI strategies are fairly new as a priority, but illustrate the need for districts to determine policies and best practices when it comes to implementing AI.

This article describes Pennsylvania's new student teacher stipend program. Administered by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA), the program offers $10,000 stipends, increasing to $15,000 for those in high-need schools. The $10 million funding is expected to aid only 600 to 700 of the 6,500 to 7,000 student teachers statewide, but it is a start to ending unpaid student teaching. |
