The Association of Illinois Rural and Small Schools (AIRSS) is the NREA State Affiliate for the state of Illinois. Over the past year, AIRSS has been working on the Rural IL CTE Project to analyze Career and Technical Education (CTE) offerings in rural schools and make direct recommendations to the Illinois State Board of Education. This work is important, not only for strengthening career pathways for rural students, but for enriching their education experience. Program Director John Glasgow shared his reflections on the first year of this work, and visions for the future.
