The newly-formed Louisiana Rural Schools Association is picking up steam. According to Jaleesa Jones-Thompson, Ph.D., who is leading up to organization, the LREA officially has 50 members, and they were recently featured in the state’s largest newspaper, The Advocate.

At the end of the month, the UVA School of Law Education Rights Institute will be releasing a new report and accompanying videos on School Funding featuring the research of the National Rural Education Association, particularly Why Rural Matters: Centering Equity and Opportunity (2023). The first report presents regarding school funding gaps along lines of socioeconomic status, race, and geography (rural and urban). The second report examines key policy considerations for closing those gaps.
