Report on AAIS' first year as RSAF AFEs' professional development partner
In a nutshell: - 82 RSAF members attended SAR66 preparatory training on M03 Electrical Fundamentals, M06 Materials and Hardware, and M08 Basic Aerodynamics.
- 5 learning journeys were organised for a total of 60 participants to Bell Textron Asia, Changi Airport Group, SIA Engineering Company's Aviation and Workplace Safety Centres, Volocopter Showcase at ITE, and SESTO Robotics and Hope Technik.
- RSAF members were invited to aerospace conferences and seminars in the calendar, including the Singapore Aerospace Technology Leadership Forum co-organised with A*STAR, seminars on 'Unlocking Procurement Wins' and the 'Singapore Sustainable Air Hub Blueprint', and webinars on Autonomous Drone Technologies, eVTOLs, and the Aerospace Open Innovation Challenge briefing.
- RSAF members were also invited to learn about the latest trends at tradeshows such as MRO Asia Pacific, Global Urban & Advanced Air Summit Asia, Singapore Airshow, and Drones and Uncrewed Asia.

RSAF Members Visit SESTO Robotics & HOPE Technik
On 22 August 2024, AAIS-RSAF members learnt about SESTO's autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and Hope Technik's role as system integrator for robotics, automation, and special vehicles.
The CTOs of both companies spoke about applications and benefits of their solutions, and of their collaboration with SIA Engineering Company, driving innovation in aircraft MRO. The highlight was an AMR demonstration and tour of their factory in Penjuru Close. |

Seminar: Integrating Sustainability and Responsible Sourcing
AAIS in collaboration with LRQA held the above seminar on 27 September 2024. The event brought together aerospace professionals to discuss sustainability in operations as well as responsible sourcing.
Michael Daniel, a member of AAIS' Panel of Experts, spoke on counterfeit and suspected unapproved parts in the aerospace supply chain, discussing alleged bogus parts and documentation fraud, avionics theft and others. Michael also highlighted the growing threat of counterfeit parts and outlined steps for organisations to mitigate risks, particularly through proper data plate identification and avoiding fraudulent markings. |

MRO Asia-Pacific (24-26 September)
MRO Asia-Pacific 2024, held at Singapore Expo from 24 to 26 September, reaffirmed its status as the premier event for the region’s commercial air transport maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector. With an expanded exhibition across two halls and a strong turnout of trade visitors, the bustling event offered an essential platform for industry professionals to connect, collaborate, and explore the latest trends and innovations in MRO.

RSAF donates AS332 to Singapore Polytechnic This AS332 Super Puma helicopter has found a new life at Singapore Polytechnic, providing hands-on learning opportunities for the over 330 Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering (DARE) and Diploma in Aerospace Electronics (DASE) students enrolled annually.
This will help to enhance the students’ practical training, equipping them with industry-relevant skills and experiences and prepare them for successful aviation careers.
