World Bank cuts Thailand’s 2023 GDP forecast to 3.4% as exports lag
The World Bank has cut its GDP growth forecast for Thailand in 2023 from 3.6% to 3.4% amid a projected slowdown in regional economies this year. The bank also revised down Thailand's GDP forecast for next year to 3.5% from April’s estimate of 3.7%. A visa-free scheme for Chinese and Kazakh tourists has received a positive response, according to Prime Minister and Finance Minister. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Minister of State of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly on 21 September. The meeting aimed to further strengthen Thailand-Germany relations. Both sides agreed to promote cooperation in trade, climate action, electronic vehicles and hydrogen technology, defense industry, possible negotiation on Schengen visa exemption for ordinary Thai passports. Thailand EV sales shatter forecasts
[Department of Land Transport, BMI] We have revised our electric vehicle (EV) sales forecast for Thailand substantially higher in light of a much better than expected first-half performance, with EV sales totalling 49,319, exceeding our original full-year outlook.
