Don't Miss Out on BMCC's Malaysia Economic Outlook and Post-Budget 2022 Webinar
At RM332.1 billion, the Malaysia National Budget 2022 tabled on 29 October 2021 is the largest ever in the history of the country. In line with the “Keluarga Malaysia” spirit, the budget is meant to be expansionary and inclusive, ensuring no person or business is left out as Malaysia sets its course for post-pandemic economic recovery.
The Minister of Finance YB Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul bin Tengku Abdul Aziz, in an interview with Bloomberg on 4 November 2021, voiced his confidence that Malaysia is on track to revive its economy in 2022. The economy is expected to register robust growth of between 5.5 percent and 6.5 percent while fiscal deficit is projected to shrink to 6.0 percent of GDP from 6.5 percent in 2021. Meanwhile, tax proposals such as the prosperity tax, a review of real property gains tax, as well as imposition of service tax on delivery services have been introduced under Budget 2022 to boost government revenue. At the same time, high vaccination rates and rising oil prices also bode well for the economy.
While there has been some noise in business circles that the prosperity tax is not business-friendly and is a concern to large corporate taxpayers, it bears noting that the tax is a one-off occurrence and has a high threshold which precludes most Malaysian companies from being impacted.
That being said, how will the Budget actually impact you and your business on the back of the guarded optimism? What opportunities can you gain from the measures to benefit your business growth?
Join us for BMCC-CCIFM’s post-budget webinar where our expert panellists will offer their insights for business and analysis on the economy: - Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican, Director, National Budget Office, Ministry of Finance, Malaysia
- YB Dr. Ong Kian Ming, Member of Parliament, Bangi / Special Select Committee on Finance & Economy, Parliament of Malaysia
- Amarjeet Singh, Asean Tax Leader, Malaysia Tax Managing Partner, Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn. Bhd.
- Anil Kumar Puri, Partner & Malaysia International Tax Leader, Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn. Bhd.
- Yeoh Cheng Guan, Partner & Malaysia Indirect Tax Leader, Ernst & Young Tax Consultants Sdn. Bhd.
Date: Tuesday, 16 November 2021 Time: 2.45pm - 4.30pm (MYT)
Prior to this webinar, BMCC member companies are also encouraged to participate in the EY Business Pulse 2021 survey on “Living with COVID-19 and Winning together”, aimed at assessing business readiness in Malaysia for the transition to the endemic phase.

Tay & Partners | Post-Employment Restrictions: Non-Compete, Solicitation & Confidentiality
Gone were the days where employees stayed loyal only to one employer till retirement. Leaving a job to pursue a better opportunity and career progression are becoming social norms. Employers spend considerable time, money and effort in developing strong relationships with suppliers, customers and employees.
These strong relationships contribute greatly to the success of the business. In such circumstances, employers would require legal protection to protect their business interests to prevent poaching of customers and staff by their former employees. |
