BMCC Member Engagement | Campus Tour around EPSOM International College
The BMCC was invited to tour around the campus of EPSOM College in Bandar Baru Enstek Negeri Sembilan.

The Chamber was represented by Jennifer Lopez, Chief Executive Officer, Roufizah Razali, Senior Manager Membership & Strategic Partnerships and Daniel Lee, Public Affairs and Government Relations Manager were kindly hosted by EPSOM’s headmaster, Matthew Brown and Mark Lankaster, Chief Executive Officer.

The scenic tour also included a site visit to the ongoing construction of the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, as we were informed on the progress of the upcoming building named after Patrick Mouratoglou, one of the world's leading tennis coaches.

BMCC Member Engagement | BMCC Executives Meet the New Director of InvestKL Corporation
The BMCC visited InvestKL Corporation (InvestKL)’s office to formally meet-up with Kelvin Boey, their new Director of Strategic Communications & Partnerships.
The BMCC was represented by Jennifer Lopez, Chief Executive Officer, Roufizah Razali, Senior Manager Membership & Strategic Partnerships and Daniel Lee, Public Affairs and Government Relations Manager. In addition to Kelvin, the BMCC Team also met InvestKL’s Senior Manager Investor Relations, Europe Aidil Azman, and Gyatri Jaydas, Manager Strategic Communications & Partnerships.
In addition to the official introduction to Kelvin, both organisations also exchanged notes on the business plans for the year and avenues of collaborations.

InvestKL, an agency under the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, is an Investment Promotion Agency fixated at inviting Fortune 500 and Forbes 2000 multinational companies, fast growing and hidden champion type companies to mark their regional hubs and take on regional activities in Greater Kuala Lumpur.

The BMCC team paid a courtesy visit to JLL Property Services (M) Sdn Bhd and meet Christophe Vicic, Chief Growth Office of JLL.

The Chamber was represented by Jennifer Lopez, Chief Executive Officer and Roufizah Razali, Senior Manager Membership & Strategic Partnerships. Also in attendance was Michael Lee, Senior Manager, Global Residential Agency and Joey Ng Marketing Communications.

JLL serves as a commercial real estate service provider, delivering high quality services to its clients in Malaysia to ensure that their patrons with interests in real estate receive exceptional service and support in their ventures.

The BMCC team visited the office of Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation Sdn Bhd (MDEC) to catch up and understand MDEC’s priorities and direction for 2022 and discuss collaborations.

The Chamber was represented by Chief Executive Officer, Jennifer Lopez, and Senior Manager Membership & Strategic Partnerships, Roufizah Razali and were hosted by the MDEC team, Wan Murdani, Director of Digital Infrastructure & Services, Syed Yazrine Shahab, Strategic Alliances & Market Outreach and Stephanie Wong Head of Strategic Alliances & Market Outreach.

(MDEC) is the government agency under the Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia trusted to lead the nation's digital economy forward.

AstraZeneca Malaysia | Broadening Access To Genomic Testing For Cancer Patients
Congratulations to our BMCC Sterling member, AstraZeneca Malaysia for making a significant milestone in precision medicine, accessible and affordable treatment for cancer patients.

AstraZeneca Malaysia together with its partners, Prudential Malaysia and Pantai Premier Pathology recently held a media launch for the on-going Precision Medicine Collaboration to make genomic testing affordable and attainable to cancer patients in Malaysia.

This industry-first tripartite collaboration is significant as it illustrates the importance of partnerships in bridging the gaps in cancer care and more importantly, making healthcare more inclusive to all.
The launch was officiated by YB Khairy Jamaluddin, Malaysia's Minister of Health, alongside H.E. Charles Hay, British High Commissioner to Malaysia, and Dr Murallitharan, Managing Director of the National Cancer Society Malaysia.

We would like to congratulate AstraZeneca Malaysia for this momentous achievement!
 
British Council | Expression of interest to host international interns
The British Council is working with Durham University to identify potential organisations in Malaysia which may have openings to host international student interns beginning in July 2023, as part of the Turing Scheme.

The internships would be for duration of 2 to 3 months. The students would come from Year 1 or Year 2, and are open to work across a range of sectors in Malaysia including finance, legal, media, PR, marketing/sales, education, NGOs/charities, technology etc.

An initial indication of interest by 20 April 2022 would be greatly appreciated.

to share a brief organisation profile (sector, location etc), number of interns they are willing to host and the proposed duration for the internship.

Tay & Partners | Patents (Amendment) Act 2022 – A Summary
The Patents (Amendment) Act 2022 together with the Patents (Amendment) Regulations 2022 have come into force on 18 March 2022, with the exception of some provisions.

The amendments incorporated Malaysia’s commitments in various international agreements and treaties, including the Agreement of Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (“TRIPS Agreement”) and the Budapest Treaty on the International Recognition of the Deposit of Microorganisms for the Purposes of Patent Procedure (“Budapest Treaty).
