Richard Graham reappointed Trade Envoy to boost trade and investment with Indo-Pacific |
|
Richard Graham MP has been reappointed by Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as Trade Envoy to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and ASEAN. Richard will be continuing the UK’s efforts to bolster regional trade and attract investment as the country's Trade Envoy. The Malaysian British Chamber of Commerce (BMCC) extends its congratulations to Richard on his reappointment and looks forward to further initiatives to strengthen trade and investment between Malaysia and the UK. |

| Abrar Anwar's Farewell Dinner |

November 15 2022, signifies the end of a legacy.
BMCC officially bids goodbye to Abrar Anwar after 5 years of excellent work, having served on the BMCC Board since 2017. Abrar has assumed previous roles as the Chamber’s Treasurer and following as the Deputy Chair. Abrar took over as Chairman of the BMCC in 2020. He has consistently backed and inspired the work of the BMCC's Executive Office to support its Members and advance the Chamber’s stated goal of fostering greater UK-Malaysian trade. |

The BMCC was also honoured to present a token of appreciation to Tan Sri Dr Michael Yeoh and Amanda Powell who have stepped down from the Board of BMCC at the last AGM in June. BMCC extends its deepest gratitude for their immense contribution and guidance to the Chamber during their tenure as Board Members.

| KLIA Autogate System Extended to Long-Term Visit Pass Holders from 15 November |
|
|
|
Foreigners with long-term visit passes are permitted to use the automated entry system (autogate) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) effective on 15 November 2022. Immigration Director General, Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud said the congestion at KLIA should be reduced by the expansion of the facility to international arrivals, which was previously only available to Malaysians. Long-term pass holders, including those who work and study in Malaysia, expatriates and participants in Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme are now allowed to use the autogate, he added.
The expansion of the autogate facility was implemented on a pilot basis from 16 September and it had been used by 1,910 Long-Term Pass holders entering Malaysia. Khairul also said the implementation of the autogate expansion is to improve management in the entry of foreigners into Malaysia, adding that it is expected to benefit more than 1.8 million foreigners. |
