Deloitte Malaysia | Top Cross-Border Tax Issues to Watch Out For in 2023 – from the Malaysian Perspective.

On the international front, the Organization of Economic Cooperation and Development (“OECD”) remains committed to realizing the Global Minimum Tax (“GMT”), arguably the largest tax reform in history. Malaysia is expected to implement this in 2024.

On the domestic front, many conditions need to be met before foreign source income can be exempted, with additional conditions in relation to economic substance announced in December.

Understanding the intricacies of the rules and regulations remains crucial for global businesses, and against this background, we share our thoughts on some of the international tax issues that one should watch out for in 2023.

JLL Breakfast Talk: Demystify Green Financing Through the Real Estate Lens.
According to JLL's survey of 340 sustainability leaders across Asia Pacific, up to 42% of occupiers and large developers have signed leases incorporating green clauses. This being evidence of green leasing gaining traction in the market, conventional leases may soon be a thing of the past as 65% of sustainability leaders believe green leases to take its place by 2025.

But despite the growing green demand and expectation, about 45% of Malaysian companies have yet to allocate a sustainability budget according to a survey by the UN Global Compact Network Malaysia & Brunei (UNGCMYB). This calls for the need to raise awareness on the green movement to strategise the next best action plan before return on investment start to be impacted.

Date: 16 February 2023
Time: 8.30 am – 11.30 am
Venue: W Hotel Kuala Lumpur
