With the recent announcements by the Government of Malaysia regarding amendments to general SOPs under the National Security Council and SOPs under the National Recovery Plan (NRP), as well as additional appointment slots for UK Visa application, the BMCC would like to update our members on the following topics that may be of interest to you.

New UK Visa Application Appointments and Visa Application Centre Availability

Following the announcement made by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Malaysia last week, VFS Global announced that more appointment slots will be available following an additional Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Kuala Lumpur.

New Procedures upon Arrival of Travellers into Malaysia

The Ministry of Health Malaysia released amendments to the procedures for health screening, COVID-19 detection test, and quarantine for travellers entering Malaysia, including the new application for home quarantine for fully vaccinated individuals.

Assurance that Government’s Service Delivery Will Continue to Operate Smoothly

Following the announcement of the resignation of the Prime Minister of Malaysia and his cabinet members, the Chief Secretary of the Government of Malaysia, Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Mohd Zuki bin Ali and the Director General of the Public Service Department of Malaysia, Tan Sri Mohd Khairul Adib Abd Rahman both issued separate statements to assure the public that the Government’s administration and service delivery will not be affected by the resignation of the cabinet.

Updated SOPs for Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan

On 16 August 2021, the National Security Council (NSC) updated the general SOPs for Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP). These amendments are made in line with the announcements made earlier by the Prime Minister regarding the reopening of certain economic sectors, as well as privileges for fully vaccinated individuals.

New SOPs for Manufacturing Sectors under the National Recovery Plan

The Ministry of International Trade and Industry Malaysia (MITI) released an amended set of SOPs for the manufacturing sector for states under Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP). These amendments were reflective of the announcement made by the Prime Minister last week with regard to the reopening of certain economic sectors. MITI also released a FAQ on the NRP applicable to the manufacturing sector.
