Event Details

The Super Tuesday Conference was designed to host business owners, professional women,

men, and students throughout the metro Atlanta community. In 1984, under the leadership of Alice White

Bussey, the Women In Business Committee of the Atlanta Business League created this forum to interact and

raise awareness of African-American women business owners and professionals.

At that time the Women In Business Committee solicited the support of The Honorable Shirley Franklin who

was then the Chief Operating Officer for the City of Atlanta and former Fulton County Commissioner Michael

Lomax to support the idea of on-site certification for women business owners, thereby bringing new resources

for corporations and federal, state, and local governments. Being a woman and understanding the challenges

faced by women in business, Ms. Franklin was responsible for identifying a $5,000 grant to support the Women

in Business Committee for a subsequent Super Tuesday program.

The Women of Vision Breakfast has long honored African American female business owners, professionals, and community and civic leaders throughout Metropolitan Atlanta. In 1994, the Atlanta Business League (ABL) published its inaugural list of "Atlanta's Top 100 Black Women of Influence." The list names Black women in the metro Atlanta community who have reached senior-level positions, are leading entrepreneurs in their industry, or have attained the ability to influence large public bodies politically and in government. In addition to professional accomplishments, the "100 Black Women of Influence" have demonstrated their commitment to the citizenry of Metro Atlanta by maintaining significant involvement and participation in community and civic activities.
