My goal as a consultant, speaker and course creator is to improve maternal health
outcomes by providing education, and support to health care students and health
professionals. My goal is to decrease the maternal mortality rate, especially in
women of color which is 3-4 times that of our white counterparts.
Communication is key when caring for and connecting with our clients. It is often
a matter of life or death. Healthcare organizations are being held accountable for
ensuring that their staff members have information and the skills necessary to
recognize, and combat implicit bias. My commitment is to educate our current
and future maternal health professionals about implicit bias, and how it affects
the care given to women. Our education begins the conversation and self-
introspection necessary for long term meaningful change.
