Graduate Student at MIT | Director for MyH2O – Water Quality Mapping in China
Charlene Ren received her B.A. in Physics from Vassar College and is a current graduate student in Environmental Engineering at MIT, with a research focus on the feasibility of membrane treatment for India’s paper mill wastewater. She has been regularly visiting India for field work purposes.
She is a proud vegetarian and environmentalist. She joined China Youth Climate Action Network (CYCAN) in 2011, and has been an organizer for several of the annual International Youth Summit on Energy and Climate Change (IYSECC). In 2014, with the help of the international department of CYCAN and a class from MIT D-lab, she initiated MyH2O – a water quality mapping network in China.
She actively supports feminism, and is a strong advocate for mental health related issues on college campuses.
