Shannon La Penna earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Northwestern University. Dr. La Penna is a member of an interdisciplinary team at the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab Pain Management Center. She is passionate about collaborating with people living with pain in order to help them to learn and integrate self-management skills to engage in meaningful activities of life. Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Dr. La Penna developed strong communication and active listening skills through teaching Spanish to middle school students.

Dr. Margolis has been practicing at Shirley Ryan AbilityLab since finishing fellowship in 2008. Her primary clinical work is in sports medicine, musculoskeletal medicine, and chronic pain management. She also specializes in spasticity management. Dr. Margolis serves as an oral board examiner proctor and oral board exam vignette writer for the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She serves as a reviewer for various rehabilitation and pain journals.
