Event Details

During this important presentation, Maureen will be discussing the importance and implications for having Advance Directives. She will offer suggestions on how to start the difficult conversation of expressing end-of-life wishes and how to respond to resistance. Maureen will also review considerations in choosing Powers of Attorney and briefly provide information about palliative and hospice care.

For $5.00* –1.0CE Credit will be awarded to Illinois nurses, social workers, professional counselors, and nursing home administrators.

    Elder Care Coordinator at Law Offices of Stephen Sutera

    Maureen Rafa is a certified psychiatric and mental health nurse with 4 decades of nursing experience. She has worked inpatient adult and gero-psychiatric units, psychiatric home health, has taught CNAs and worked in a nursing home as House Supervisor.
    Maureen spent many years working in Managed Care for BCBSIL. This included varied roles; employee health, BH and Nurse Liaison for HMO Medical Group. Maureen currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pathlights and the Illinois Chapter of the American Nurses' Association. Outside work interests include theater and music.
