Alexander Aronsohn FRICS is a Chartered Surveyor with long and wide-ranging experience encompassing residential asset management, commercial and residential development, rating, national and international valuation and investment. Alexander is the IVSC Director of Technical Standards for Tangible Assets and assists the IVSC Standards Review Board and its Asset Boards on drafting IVS, perspectives papers, presentations, training and articles. Prof. Kola Akinsomi (PhD) is an Associate Professor at the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa and the Chief Economist of RealQuant Analytics. He holds a PhD in Real Estate Finance from the National University of Singapore; he is a qualified chartered surveyor (MRICS). His research interests include real estate investment trusts (REITs), real estate portfolio management, capital markets, Emerging Real Estate Markets, and Housing Economics.
He won the best paper award at the African real estate society conference in real estate finance and investments in 2017 and 2022. He was awarded the Emerald Literati Award for Research Excellence in 2019. Kola is the President of the African Real Estate Society and President-Elect of the International Real Estate Society (2025). In addition, Kola is an advisory member of the South African Council for Property Valuers Profession (SACPVP) and a member of the SA REITs Research Committee. Kola has held visiting research positions at the National University of Singapore, the University of Tokyo, Japan, the University of Western Sydney, Australia and Malmo University, Sweden. He has been invited as a guest lecturer at The University of Cape Town, South Africa; Oxford Brookes University, England; Widener University, United States; the College of William and Mary, United States; Virginia Tech, United States; Clemson University, United States and University of Sheffield, United Kingdom.

Motlatso Maloka started working as a Candidate Valuer at the City of Johannesburg, later promoted to Manager Valuations. She worked for CoJ for 17 years. Ms Maloka joined the Department of Rural Development and Land Reform as a Director in 2012, at the time of the promulgation of the Property Valuation Act that gave effect to the establishment of the Office of the Valuer-General (OVG). She became a Senior Manager in the OVG and was subsequently appointed the Acting Valuer-General in 2019.
Motlatso is a registered Professional Valuer with the SACPVP. She is a member of the South African Institute of Valuations (SAIV), wherein she has served as a Committee Member from 2011 to date. Mr John Cloete is the current President of the South African Council of the Property Valuers Profession, a statutory body established to regulate the valuation profession and practices in South Africa.
John Cloete started his own valuation practice in 2007, where he was tasked with various types of property valuations, valuation objections and Appeal board hearing for government and private business properties nationally. He worked as a professional valuer for Pangbourne Properties as well as for Transnet Pension Fund.
He is a sessional lecturer on property valuation at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits). He holds an MBA and a degree in Property Valuation.
Ben is responsible for the delivery of the RICS Global Valuation Strategy, which has a key role in securing global financial stability through participation by the RICS in the development and application of International Valuation Standards. Ben is well qualified for this role as an Economist and a Chartered Surveyor with interest in the interface of the economy and property markets and is the author of a chapter in the Routledge Handbook on Sustainable Real Estate.
He has been a practising valuer and respected academic holding senior positions at Nottingham Trent University and The College of Estate Management.
Ben Chairs IVSC Tangible Assets Board is a member of the Standards Board and the immediate past chair of Commission 9 (Valuation) for the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG). He has recently been working with a Team on developing guidance on the valuation of unregistered land for UN-Habitat & FIG.
