ABOUT BMSZ2023

WELCOME to the BMSZ2023 Scientific Conference! Our conferences bring together local and international medical laboratory professionals, senior Ministry of Health officials, regulators, industry leaders, and training institutions to discuss salient issues in laboratory medicine. This year, BMSZ will be holding its flagship Annual Scientific Conference, the BMSZ2023, at Radisson Blu Hotel in Livingstone from 6th – 8th December 2023. The symposium will be held under the theme "Latest advances in laboratory medicine: the role of emerging technologies in supporting patient care."

The conference will feature international and local speakers and delegates to interrogate how latest technologies are impacting patient care positively and negatively and how we can harness them to improve laboratory services today. We will explore what the laboratory of the future looks like and how we can proactively respond to exploit the technological advances while guarding against potential harm to the patient and the public.

We will also be asking: How will emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence impact how we practice laboratory medicine? How will these help us to reduce testing errors? How will technology impact laboratory regulation and vice versa? How can we use information from the laboratory to predict future pandemics and act proactively?

Further, we will discuss the latest in quality management systems, accreditation, biorisk management, and genomics among other topics. Whether you are a researcher, a dedicated student, or a passionate laboratory professional, this leading scientific event presents an opportunity to delve into the latest trends, share your expertise, and foster connections within the vibrant laboratory medicine community.

OUTCOME

Out of this conference will come policy recommendations, advocacy and position papers aimed at improving the quality of healthcare from a laboratory perspective with a view to combating new and re-emerging public health threats. Further, key players from the private and public sectors will network to discuss ways the laboratory can reposition itself to remain relevant in today's constantly changing health landscape. Also, individuals and organisations that have made outstanding contributions to the medical laboratory profession in Zambia will also be recognized.

REGISTRATION

Register today and secure yourself a place among luminaries of laboratory medicine who will gather in Livingstone City.

SPONSORSHIP

As a non-profit organisation, we could not achieve what we do to protect patients and all of us from erroneous and potentially deadly laboratory results without the support of generous organisations. We are looking for sponsor partnerships towards the organisation of the BMSZ2023 Conference. Kindly write to secretariat@bmsz.org for sponsorship packages. We look forward to discussing this mutually beneficial partnership with you.
