Christoper May

Christoper May

Christopher May grew up in the pine forest near Prescott, Arizona, and recalls stomping and kicking many kinds of mushrooms in his childhood that he would now eagerly collect for the dinner table. 12 years ago, he became interested in mycology as a hobby, first for culinary purposes, and later for its own sake as a field of knowledge where citizen-scientists can make an impact. He served as President of his local affiliate of the North American Mycological Association, the Arizona Mushroom Society, and is one of the local mushroom identifiers recognized by the NAMA Toxicology Committee for medical and veterinary consultations. Chris continues to be involved with the forays and meetings of the AMS, and has lectured to many audiences about mushroom toxicity and the fungi of Arizona. He is a radiologist in private practice in Scottsdale, Arizona, with a wife, two adult children, and a West Highland White Terrier named Wally who loves to hunt mushrooms with him.
