Are you involved in DNA sequencing? Whether you are professional mycologist or a committed hobbyist, this fledgling NAMA committee may be just right for you! We are specifically looking for committee members who are involved in DNA testing - this is not a venue to learn about this fascinating area, but rather to provide leadership and help shape our future efforts.

Our first order of business will be to define our goals, roles, guidelines and overall focus. The goal of this new committee will go beyond just implementing sequencing at NAMA events to helping forward the entire effort in the wider world, especially with our members and our club affiliates.

After you register, you will see a link to the event - it is a Zoom meeting link, save that, and, we will see you there!

Can't make the event?? Register anyway if you think you want to be involved in this committee and we will record the meeting and invite you to the next meeting, probably in June.

This committee is for NAMA members only - but if you are not a member and want to attend this initial meeting we will certainly accommodate you, just email president@namyco.org.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who will head up this committee?

A: That is undetermined. We will need someone to step up and chair this committee moving forward. Trent will get us started until a committee chair is appointed.

Q: What is the committee's job?

A: The committee's specific description needs developed, and, it is appropriate for the new committee to create its own goals and guidelines. NAMA wants a committee to oversee DNA sequencing at our events as well as help our members and club affiliates move forward in this realm. We also ask the committee (like our other committees) to provide 2 articles a year for The Mycophile, recommend webinar presenters, recommend annual foray speakers, host a book club (this is a new one), provide an annual report, hold regular meetings with minutes and select a scholarship student for our annual foray.
