Christopher Guith
Vice President at US Chamber of Commerce Global Energy InstituteChristopher Guith is senior vice president at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Global Energy Institute. He is responsible for developing the Institute’s policies and initiatives as they apply to the legislative, executive, and regulatory branches of the federal and state governments. Specifically, Guith primarily focuses on the development of the Energy Institute’s policies and messaging relating to oil and natural gas, generation, and nuclear energy. He led the Chamber’s Shale Works for US campaign, which analyzed and promoted the widespread benefits of shale energy development in America.
Guith offers expertise on an array of energy and environmental issues. He educates policymakers, businesses, energy stakeholders, coalitions, and the public about the importance of a diversified energy portfolio and how it can ensure an efficient, reliable, prosperous, and secure energy future. He also leverages his broad energy expertise as a spokesperson with local, state, and national media.
Guith travels frequently to speak to stakeholder groups, raising awareness of the impact of policy decisions on America’s energy future and encouraging groups to share their perspectives with policymakers. In addition, he consults with state and local chambers of commerce and business groups, advising them how to quantify the importance of safe, reliable American energy to their businesses, as well as how to amplify that message when communicating with energy decision makers.
Prior to joining the Chamber in 2008, Guith served as deputy assistant secretary for nuclear energy at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), where he developed the administration’s nuclear energy policies and coordinated the department’s interactions with Congress, stakeholders, and the media. He was also deputy assistant secretary for congressional affairs at DOE and a chief representative of the administration during the drafting and debate of the Energy Policy Act of 2005.
Earlier in his career, Guith served as Rep. Bob Barr’s (R-GA) legislative director and Rep. Tim Murphy’s (R-PA) counsel and policy adviser. He was also legislative counsel for the Environment, Technology & Regulatory Affairs at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Guith is a graduate of Syracuse University-College of Law and the University of California-Santa Barbara.
Dr. Braden Kay
Sustainability Director of City of TempeDr. Braden Kay is the Sustainability Director at the City of Tempe. Braden works with city departments on reaching sustainability targets in energy, transportation, waste, water, land use, local food, housing, and social issues. He was the Sustainability Project Manager for the City of Orlando, where he led sustainability implementation in waste diversion, urban forestry, and urban agriculture. He received a PhD from Arizona State's School of Sustainability for his dissertation work on stakeholder engagement and strategy building within the City of Phoenix. Previously, Braden managed community engagement, sustainability assessment and strategy building for the City of Phoenix's Reinvent Phoenix grant, which was funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development's Sustainable Communities program. Braden has experience consulting municipal governments, non-profits, and corporations. Braden's academic and professional experience in urban planning, municipal government and sustainability implementation make him an asset for innovative urban sustainability efforts.
Ashlye Stark
APS Account Executive at APSAshlye Stark has worked in the utility industry for over ten years and is currently an Account Executive at APS. In her role, she is responsible for the marketing strategy and implementation of all energy management, sustainability, billing and payment programs available to APS business customers. She has a passion for helping businesses succeed and has spent the majority of her career educating customers on the resources available to help them improve their bottom line by effectively managing their energy use.
Nathan Morey
Product Development Manager at SRPNathan is responsible for managing SRP's portfolio of Demand-Side Management (DSM) programs. Working with an extraordinary team of internal professionals and third-party program implementation contractors, he guides the design, development, and implementation of 25 successful energy efficiency, demand response, and electrification programs for SRP's residential and commercial customers. Prior to joining SRP in 2010, Nathan spent 12 years working as an architect on a wide array of commercial and residential projects. His architectural career developed the creativity and passion for building science, energy efficiency, and sustainability he applies today. Nathan holds a Bachelors of Architecture from the University of Arizona. He lives in Phoenix with his wife and young son.
Mark Snedecor
Director of Recycling Operations at Waste ManagementAs the Director of Recycling Operations for the Four Corners Market Area of Waste Management, Mark Snedecor manages 15 business units in the four-state area, and is responsible for the daily operation and strategic planning of seven Material Recovery Facilities and eight consolidation points. Mark’s successes for the Four Corners Market Area include helping site and develop nine transfer stations, and a state of the art Material Recovery Facility to process recyclables. Mark has executed numerous landfill expansions and permit changes, in addition to negotiating several municipal solid waste contracts in Arizona, New Mexico, California and Colorado.
During his 20-year tenure with Waste Management, Mark has served in a number of sales and operational leadership roles including landfill sales, Market Area sales management, and industrial/landfill sales management. Mark was awarded Waste Management’s prestigious Circle of Excellence award in 2002.
Mark is active in many area organizations including Keep Phoenix Beautiful, SWANA, and Boy Scouts of America. He currently serves as the Past Chair on the Board of Directors for Keep Phoenix Beautiful and is the Past Chapter Chair for the Arizona National Solid Waste Management Association (NSWMA). Mark is a graduate of Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing, with an emphasis in International Industrial Marketing.
