Program Manager at Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity

Trevor Stokes is the Workforce Programs Manager for the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity, our state’s labor market information and workforce policy hub. His extensive background in economic research and labor market analysis includes more than 300 regional labor market studies conducted for school districts and workforce boards across the country. He has served as a subject matter expert for industry sector partnerships, career-driven curriculum development, and workforce development policy.
Trevor is:
• Arizona’s Adult Education 2018 WIOA Partner of the Year
• a Fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Communities That Work program
• a member of the Arizona Association of Career and Technical Education’s (ACTE-AZ) Circle of Distinction
• Arizona’s delegate to the National Governors Association Good Jobs for All Americans initiative
Before coming to Arizona, Trevor provided leadership to some of the country’s most innovative and successful career-driven education and workforce development initiatives, including Go Build Alabama, Florida Ready to Work and the Kentucky Career and College Readiness Transformation. In Arizona, he is the driving force behind our Arizona Career Readiness Credential.
Trevor is a member of the National Storytelling Network and has performed several times at the International Storytelling Center in Jonesborough, TN. He is an alum of Lee University in East Tennessee and now resides in Peoria, Arizona with his wife and four daughters where he supports the state’s efforts to grow, attract and retain quality jobs.

Abe McCann - Currently serving as the Employment Roadmap Coordinator for the Arizona Coalition for Military Families and also is the current state representative for the Department of Defense Skills Skill Bridge program. Abe served in the U.S. Army from 2002-2006, deployed to Iraq from 2005-2006. Abe is a native of Arizona, a University of Arizona alumni is married to Tamara McCann, and has two children.

Apprenticeship Training Representative at Department of Economic Security

Melissa is originally from Grand Forks, North Dakota but moved to northern Arizona in the late 90s. She moved to Phoenix in 2005 to further her education and graduated from Arizona State University with a BA in Business Administration.

Melissa has been with the Arizona Apprenticeship Office for two years as Apprenticeship Training Representative which has been spent with employer and employment relations. She believes in developing strong relationships as an important foundation of everything she does, both professionally and personally. She travels the State of Arizona providing technical assistance in creating registered apprenticeship programs and sharing ARIZONA@WORK services. She assists over 175 Registered Apprenticeship Programs statewide incorporating over 1,200 employers with over 4,100 registered apprentices and counting.

Career Ready Tempe Coordinator at City of Tempe

Lorena Cabrera is the coordinator for Career Ready Tempe, a Youth Workforce internship program established by the City of Tempe and the Tempe Chamber of Commerce. Before moving to Arizona, Lorena worked in the South Florida non-profit and education sectors where she connected low-income families to economic opportunities and students to personal and professional development experiences. She is originally from Long Island, New York, but spent most of her life in Miami, Florida—a little place she likes to call ‘home’.
