Topical Training Opportunity for Victim Service Providers


August 28th 1 PM - 3 PM


Overview:


This training will teach you why Trauma-Informed Language is crucial in the criminal justice system.



By the end of the training, attendees will understand the following:

  • Why using sensitive language shows respect for both victims', co-victims', and witnesses' experiences and their dignity and how it can positively impact their willingness to engage with the justice process;
  • How to avoid retraumatization and build trust using effective and sensitive communication;
  • And how trauma-informed language fosters a more compassionate and effective criminal justice system.


This training is approved for 2 PCCD training hours.

Gabrielle Rainey, Director of Victim Services at Central Division Victim Services of Philadelphia, is a highly motivated, dedicated, compassionate skilled professional with years of experience providing trauma informed services to victims, witnesses, and co-victims of crime. Gabrielle holds her Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Widener University. She is a Credentialed Victim Advocate, with a specialty in homicide cases, through the National Advocate Credentialing Program (NACP). Gabrielle provides high levels of service to victims through trained practices in trauma informed care and trauma informed language.
