Matt Smith
Matt graduated from Eastern Kentucky University and was commissioned as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. He spent eight years serving on active duty and served at multiple duty stations. Matt did two combat deployments including one in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and one as part of a Marine Expeditionary Unit aboard Naval ships during the Arab Spring. He served in a variety of roles such as an Infantry Platoon Commander and Scout Sniper Platoon Commander.
In 2015, Matt left active duty and began his civilian career at GE in the Junior Officer Leadership Program (JOLP), a two-year program within GE designed for military officers transitioning to Corporate America. After graduating from JOLP, he joined the sourcing organization as a Senior Commodity Buyer and then as a Senior Manager.
In 2022, Matt joined Humana and is currently an Associate Director in Enterprise Category Management. In this role, he leads a team of category managers in a variety of categories to include Logistics, Medical Supplies, Medical Equipment, and Pharmacy.
Matt continues to serve as a Major in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He has been married to his wife Marci for 16 years and they have five children ranging in ages from 11 to 1. In his free time, Matt loves spending time with his family on their small hobby farm. He is also an avid marathon runner, triathlete, hunter, and musician.
