As a result, companies must meet more compliance requirements, particularly also in terms of insurance cover.
In this workshop, we showcase, based on the example Vietnam, how an International Program offers a compelling solution for Japanese risk managers who are looking to manage their coverage in a centralized and simplified way.

On September 28th, 2022 the European Commission presented two proposals: one adapting non-contractual civil liability rules to artificial intelligence (AI Liability Directive) and one for a new product liability directive (PLD; the actual is from 1985). According to the European Commission, the proposals aim to ensure that the liability rules reflect the nature and the risk of products in the digital age and circular economy. The PLD proposal also addresses the availability of a liable actor on EU territory in case products are bought online from manufacturers outside the EU. Moreover, it aims at easing the burden of proof in complex cases and taking away some restrictions to making claims.
Assuming that the directives are coming into force, the presentation wants to show the major changes and the pain points from a product liability insurer’s point of view.
Marco Visser, presenting at this workshop, is a fully qualified Germany Lawyer and liability underwriter at HDI Global home office. Marco is, among others, a member of the Liability Commission of the German Insurance Association (GDV) in Berlin and Chair of the “Liability/Insurability Working Group” at Insurance Europe in Brussels.
