Thomas brings with him more than 30 years of experience in corporate management, business strategy, and risk management. He began his career as a banker, holding management positions in the corporate and commercial banking divisions of several local commercial banks, from where he joined Pengurusan Danaharta Nasional Berhad (Danaharta), Malaysia's asset management company in 1998. He was initially involved in loan restructuring and thereafter headed its risk management unit, prior to its successful closure in 2005.
Thomas then joined the MBf Holdings group of companies, initially as its Chief Operating Officer and thereafter as its President. Thomas then assumed the role of Group Finance Director at Ben Holdings group in Sri Lanka, an established retail, media and theatre group, where he oversaw all aspects of Finance, Treasury, Legal, Human Resources, Risk Management, Audit, and IT.
Dr Nurmazilah Dato’ Mahzan has served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 2016, leading the Institute’s value creation, regulatory and nation building agenda.
Simultaneously, she contributes her expertise on governance, regulation, standards and business to several other global and professional bodies. Currently, she serves as a member of the framework review panel of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) and a technical advisor of the Public Accountants in Business (PAIB) Advisory Group of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).
Throughout her career, Dr Nurmazilah has contributed to various bodies in her commitment and passion for the profession. Prior to being appointed CEO of MIA, she had served as a Council member of MIA, a Member of the Malaysian Accounting Standards Board (MASB), an elected member of the Board of Governors for the Institute of Internal Auditors Malaysia (IIA Malaysia), a Council member of The Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and the Honorary Treasurer with Persatuan Ekonomi Malaysia. Dr Nurmazilah also served in various committees of MIA and MICPA.
She holds numerous professional qualifications and certifications as well as academic degrees. An accountancy graduate of the International Islamic University of Malaysia, Dr. Nurmazilah is a member of MIA and MICPA, an ASEAN CPA, and a CGMA fellow. She is a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and holds the Certified Risk Management and Assurance (CRMA) qualification. In addition, she holds a PhD in accounting from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom, and conducted various research projects in the areas of auditing, financial reporting and corporate governance throughout her academic career. She continues to take a deep interest in applied research, especially in digital and technological issues affecting the profession.
Her extensive work experience spans public practice, industry, academia and now, regulation. She started her career with Arthur Andersen in 1993, and later joined KUB Malaysia Berhad as the Group Accounts Manager. Her corporate experience covers various industries including property development and construction, banking, unit trusts, trading and manufacturing. In higher education, she last held the post of Director of University Malaya Graduate School of Business.
Luke Joseph serves as Head of country, bp Malaysia alongside other accountabilities as regional director, global business services (GBS) Asia and head of sourcing, GBS procurement within bp.
Luke joined bp in early 2017 and in the last four years has built the GBS procurement function in Kuala Lumpur and developed sourcing and contracting capabilities for global procurement. Prior to joining bp, Luke held various procurement and IT leadership roles across engineering, procurement & construction (EPC), logistics and IT industries.
As Head of country, Luke’s responsibilities include management of continuity and risk management on matters such as security, regulatory duties and incident management including strengthening bp’s reputation and growth in AsPac. As bp seeks to become an integrated energy company, Luke together with the bp Malaysia team aims to progress the new bp strategy and deliver innovative, integrated and decarbonized energy solutions at scale, to help the world reach net zero and improve peoples’ lives.

Professor Wing Lam is Provost and CEO at University of Reading Malaysia, an international branch campus of the University of Reading, UK. Wing has held a variety of academic leadership and teaching positions in Malaysia, Singapore and the UK. The early part of his career includes industry stints in technology consulting advising FTSE clients. His current areas of research interest include technology, innovation and digital transformation. Wing has published over 80 peer-reviewed articles and journals and previously served on a number of editorial review boards. He completed his PhD in Computer Science from Kings College London (1994).
Dr. Shamsul Nahar Abdullah is currently Professor of Accounting and Dean at the Faculty of Business, International University of Malaya-Wales. His previous appointments include Professor of Accounting and Dean at the Cluster (Faculty) of Business and Management, Open University Malaysia, Professor of Accounting and Dean at the Faculty of Finance and Administrative Sciences, Al-Madinah International University (MEDIU), Professor of Accounting with University of Dubai, Professor of Accounting at the Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) and as a Professor of Accounting and Dean at the Faculty of Management and Economics, the Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT). He is a professionally qualified accountant with memberships with CPA Australia (Fellow CPA status), Institute of Certified Management Accountants Australia (CMA status) and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (Chartered Accountant status).
He had served as the external examiner for MBA, accounting and BBA programmes offered by University of Technology MARA (UiTM), University of Tun Razak (UNIRAZAK), University of Malaysia Pahang (UMP), University College of Technology Sarawak and Lincoln University College respectively. He had served as a member of the IIUM Audit Committee, a member of IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. Audit Committee, a member of the Board of Directors of Daya Bersih Sdn. Bhd., a member of the Council of CPA Australia Malaysia Division and a member of the Council of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.
He has written numerous papers which appeared in academic and professional journals at international and local levels which include Strategic Management Journal, Managerial Auditing Journal, Asian Review of Accounting, Journal of Management & Governance, Asian Academy of Management Journal of Accounting and Finance, Corporate Governance, Financial Reporting, Regulation & Governance and Asian Academy of Management Journal and International of Business and Society. He currently serves on the editorial board of the editorial board of Asian Journal of Accounting and Governance (published by UKM), Advisory Board of Journal of Research in Emerging Markets (JREM), published by the University of Dubai. Previously, he had served as the Editor for the International Journal of Economics, Management and Accounting (indexed in Web of Science Core Collection, i.e. Emerging Sources Citation Index) Emerging Sources Citation Index).
Calum worked for Kaplan for nearly 10 years. During this time he has worked in multiple departments and divisions. These range from Apprenticeships/early stage careers, to learning and professional development post qualification. For the past 5 years Calum has been supporting Kaplan’s overseas ventures, more specifically focused on South East Asia. Calum has many years of experience in setting up professional education training programmes for a range of companies and sectors. Calum is particularly passionate about Malaysia and supporting the various initiatives to develop more highly skilled accountants.
