L3's Private-charter flights

Logan Air – Scotland's Airline

We've made arrangements to make this trip easy on our travelers with private-chartered flights from Glasgow to Islay and from Islay to Inverness.

Our luggage will be transferred separately via coach to eliminate the need for baggage drop and claim at the airports.

Our Scotland Guide

Maggie Macrae

Maggie is a Blue Badge guide (highest level for guides) and is qualified to guide all over Scotland. She knows and loves the islands, west coast and north-east of Scotland (having stayed with groups at Candacraig on previous occasions)

Originally a lawyer who practiced in both England and Scotland, she gained qualifications in horticulture and garden design before becoming a Blue Badge Guide.

Maggie says:

  • ''Born on the west coast and now living on the east in the New Town of Edinburgh, I am very keen to share my love of Scotland with visitors. In addition to a good knowledge of the events which shaped this country, I have particular interest in gardens, notable houses, country pursuits, golf and all other sports, general history of Scotland, pilgrimage routes, and food and drink. I escort groups on walking/driven tours anywhere in Scotland and am very happy to ensure L3's experience is truly bespoke and lasting memories are created ''

Weather

Let's face it. You don't travel to Scotland for its weather.

You can expect mild temperatures. August is usually Scotland's warmest month with average lows in the 50s and highs in the upper 60s. Scotland can be incredibly wet during August. Be sure to pack your rain gear.

On the bright side, August is when the Highlands explode with purple heather, usually.

Covid Protocols

You will need to be vaccinated and have a booster shot to travel with L3. We will send you the international requirements for testing and vaccinations when we get closer to our departure date.

As of January 5, 2022, re-entry into the United States, requires a negative PCR test.

We will make arrangements in Edinburgh for your PCR test. At this time, we do not know what the individual charge will be for this test.

Cancellation

Due to the limited number of seats on this trip, there will be no refund for a canceled reservation at any time. However, we anticipate a waiting list and will permit the reselling of your reservation to another L3 member or candidate, should you need to cancel. We encourage you to get travel insurance.

Should a COVID surge prohibit travel either by the United States or Scotland, the trip will be rescheduled. Our destination management company has listed this in our contract but warns there may be an additional fee if the Royal Military Tattoo is not canceled during the prohibited travel period. Military Tattoo tickets are non-refundable.
