Beautifully set in the red rock country of Sedona, Enchantment Resort will be a breathtaking backdrop for the start of our Dual Narrative program. The resort is Sedona's premier resort for outdoor adventure. We'll take full advantage of their guided tours and elegant surroundings for three nights.

We'll move to the south rim of the Grand Canyon for the final night. The south rim is the most popular rim at Grand Canyon National Park because of its stunning beauty. Talks with experts, sunset tours and breathtaking views will fill the final night at the El Tovar Hotel.

El Tovar first opened in 1905 and was renovated in 2005. The hotel is a registered National Historic Landmark and is on the Canyon rim. When it was built by the Santa Fe Railroad it was considered the most elegant hotel west of the Mississippi River. El Tovar is not a five-star resort like Enchantment, but the view is spectacular.

What is a Dual Narrative Trip?

It's one that presents more than one point of view through tour guides and experts. We'll talk with native Americans, representatives of federal agencies, locals and historians about Grand Canyon National Park.

DUAL NARRATIVE

A dual narrative tour is one that presents more than one point of view through tour guides and experts. We'll talk with native Americans, representatives of federal agencies, locals and historians about Grand Canyon National Park.

ACTIVITIES

STARGAZING

Sedona is one of the top stargazing locations in the world. We'll explore the night sky with an expert astronomer using an array of powerful telescopes.

We'll learn the story of the constellations and delve deeper into space as we view planets, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. On nights when the moon is favorable, explore its cratered surface and mountain ranges in stunning detail. Bring your cell phone to capture incredible images.

HIKE THE RED ROCKS

We'll follow an expert guide through the red rock landscapes of Sedona, with beauty around every turn. Enjoy the scenery and the photo opportunities as the guide navigates the trails for you. Learn about the local plants, animals and the geology that makes Sedona's rocks their iconic red.

Our expert hiking guide is certified in first aid and CPR and will provide trekking poles and a lumbar waist pack. Please bring a refillable water bottle. It is recommended that you consume at least one liter of water per one hour of activity. We suggest you bring more water than planned and pack electrolytes. Hydration packs are recommended. Trail House has a water refill station.

What to bring: Sunscreen, a sun hat, hiking boots, hydration pack or refillable water bottle, your favorite salty snacks and energy bars. For your convenience, outdoor adventure gear, snacks and hydration packs are available for sale in the Trail House.

Duration: Up to 2.5 hours

VILLAGE AND RIM TRAIL WALK

We'll take a private tour with an experienced, expert guide who will weave the canyon's story during a 3-hour walk in Grand Canyon's historic Village. Ancient rocks and fossils, historic Native American pictographs, amazing plants and animals, and discussing the Native American connections--both past and present--to a place many call home will be part of this fascinating walk. The historic rim trail has a great deal to offer the inquisitive mind while enjoying some of the most breathtaking views in North America.

GRAND CANYON SIGHTS

We'll stop along the way at:

Desert View Watchtower

Kolb Studio

Hopi House

Yavapai Museum of Geology

Trail of Time

Tusayan Museum

BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL

This is a narrow and long trail. You will hike this trail on your own. We suggest taking the 1.5-mile route to the rest stop and then turning around. This is a 2-4-hour hike depending on your speed.

SUNSET TOUR

Sunset is the best time to witness the canyon's beauty. We'll share some wine and cheese and toast to the beauty nature gifts us. It's the perfect way to end our Grand Canyon trip.

MOBILITY

You should be able to hike 2 miles in no more than 60 minutes.

You may opt out of any hike and enjoy the resort or sights.
