The Mid-Atlantic Association of Career Schools (MAACS) Annual Conference is one of the largest conferences in the country for career school officials and affiliated companies. The event draws over 250 people a year representing schools, vendor companies, accrediting agencies, education policy-makers, and other guests. The conference blends several dozen sessions and meetings to provide content to schools on a vast array of subjects, along with several networking and social events, and time with exhibiting companies that sell products and services to schools.


This year's conference location is in historic Annapolis, Maryland. Within several blocks of the conference hotel is the Maryland State Capitol, dozens of restaurants and taverns, shops, the US Naval Academy, the historic red brick streets and colonial homes, and the beautiful waterfront of the Severn River and the Chesapeake Bay. Also if you want to extend your stay, Washington DC and Baltimore are both less than an hour away, and the beach towns of the Delaware and Maryland shore are about two hours away.

The Draft Agenda for conference (subject to change) has now been released. For a summary of the agenda and what to expect each day, please see below.

July 23 - This is a travel day to conference for most guests. We will only have pre-conference social and networking events this day. Our annual golf tournament will be held during the afternoon, and we anticipate our opening conference cocktail reception and/or potentially a reception with elected officials in the evening. We are also looking at potential boat options for an event on the water in the afternoon.


July 24 - This will be a day full of content and networking. In the morning, we will have our annual cosmetology and barber school meeting and luncheon. We are also looking at a potential Student Aid Workshop in morning. Our full conference will begin around lunchtime with plenary sessions and multiple breakout sessions in the afternoon. These sessions will cover diverse topics meant for school leaders, compliance staff, career services, financial aid, admissions, marketing, educators and faculty, cybersecurity, and more. Our Exhibitor Hall will be open this day. We also plan to have an early evening cocktail reception before dinner, and the President's Reception after dinner.


July 25 - This will be another day full of content with plenary sessions and multiple breakout sessions again covering diverse topics for school leaders, compliance staff, career services, financial aid, admissions, marketing, educators and faculty, cybersecurity, and more. Our Exhibitor Hall will also be open this day. We expect to close the conference with our Annual Awards Luncheon in the early afternoon.
