James joined Knight Frank in 2015 as co-head of the Malaysian Capital Markets business. He has more than 23 years of real estate experience and has been based in the region for 18 years. James works closely with the overseas teams to assist Malaysian investors to acquire and dispose of their overseas properties as well as being responsible for the disposal of investment properties in Malaysia.
He has recently completed sales to Sunway REIT, BRDB, Koperasi MCIS, Sime Darby and high net worth families. Overseas, he has acted for Maybank, Tabung Haji, PNB and Felda to name a few. James has extensive experience in direct and indirect real estate investment as well as asset management having worked for leading international developers and property companies.
James holds a Masters of Land Economy from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland and is a qualified general practice surveyor with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.
With a degree in Property Valuation & Management from Lincoln University, New Zealand and over 15 years of real estate industry experience involving valuation together with other consultancy services, Young Khean specialises in corporate office leasing and tenant representation, conducting lease negotiations and restructuring of tenancies. He has been involved in the project sale of high-end residential condominiums around Kuala Lumpur areas and overseas markets including London and Singapore.
Often required to liaise with multinational companies assisting in relocation, expansion, consolidation, location analysis, financial analysis and site selection feasibilities, Young Khean has advised and leased more than 1,000,000 square feet in the greater Kuala Lumpur area. Recent clients include Ericsson, Roche, Boeing, NSN, Cameron, Service Source, Huntsman, Regus, Ecolab, Fourwinds and Linde.
Ben Ooi has over 15 years of experience in the Retail Consultancy industry in Malaysia. He started his career in fitout coordination with AEON Jusco chain, namely AEON Kinta City Ipoh, AEON Melaka and etc.
Prior to joining Knight Frank, he has gained invaluable experiences while working for a renowned retail consultancy firm as a retail planner, where he honed his skills in providing retail consultancy and advisory services to clients. Ben works with the developer consultants, be it the Architect, M&E Consultant or Structural Engineer, to ensure the retail component is flexible to retailers’ needs as well as future expansions if necessary.
To date, Ben has developed more than 12 established retail projects in Malaysia with a Nett Lettable Area of c.1 million sqft.
Bringing to the table extensive experience and expertise in property and facility management, tenancy management, contract management and management consultancy, Kuruvilla is a property management professional with over 28 years of high calibre experience in Malaysia, Qatar & UK. Kuruvilla specialises in maximising returns on properties under management through increasing income, reducing operating costs and managing complex tenancy contracts.
He also has exceptional people skills especially in building and sustaining robust vendor and contractor relationships, and providing consultancy services to developers, multinationals, public and private companies, REITs and fund managers. This has crucially contributed towards consistent high standards of service delivery while fostering long term business partnerships. Internally, Kuruvilla is known for his mentoring and motivational skills, having built a highly productive workforce and enhance talent retention. As a proactive individual who’s motivated to provide quality services, Kuruvilla strives in delivering excellence through effective communication, coordination, decision making, problem solving, strategies, planning and execution.
Among his credentials include an Honours Degree in Estate Management from Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland.
