Event Details

The Lunch is the curtain-raiser for the annual Manila 10s Rugby Tournament. After a string of successful events over the past years, we are expecting a packed house of guests from a cross-section of the business and sports- playing communities.

Owen Finegan

Toutai Kefu

Owen Finegan’s dry wit is matched only by his rugged good looks hence the nickname “Melon".

Although a niggler and supreme practical joker with the Brumbies and Vodafone Wallabies, Finegan is a true game breaker. It’s been often said that when Finegan plays well, the Wallabies play well.

The big, strong, bruising backrower has a special try scoring talent and that was no more evident than during the 1999 World Cup final against France.

Finegan has the perfect mix of strength and strategy and often breaks through the advantage line running off the first receiver. He was a foundation member of the 1996 Brumbies, making him an integral part of coach Eddie Jones’ leadership team.

Finegan won his 50th Test cap when the Vodafone Wallabies played South Africa in Johannesburg in August.

Kefu was a powerful and skilful No.8 who won 60 caps for Australia.

The Tongan-born forward made his international bow for Australia in August 1997 as a replacement against South Africa in the Tri-Nations. He gained his first start in 1998 as the Wallabies mauled England 76-0. By the 1999 Rugby World Cup Kefu was a central figure for the Wallabies and played a crucial role as they went on to lift the William Webb Ellis trophy for the second time.

Kefu missed the 2003 Rugby World Cup in Australia after cracking his shoulder bone in a Tri-Nations clash with New Zealand earlier in the year. With his international career behind him, Kefu, who made more than 100 appearances for the Reds in Super Rugby, moved to play his rugby in Japan before taking up a coaching role with the Sunshine Coast Stingrays in 2010. In 2011 he aided Tonga with their World Cup preparations.
