The COVID-19 pandemic has shone a bright spotlight on the critical role supply chains play in our day-to-day lives. The importance of supply chains became evident with the realization that trucking and packaging companies are just as "essential" as those producing protective masks and life-saving drugs. Tragic fatalities at Indian hospitals from oxygen shortages have highlighted the life-and-death implications of supply chain planning for uncertain future. And when a country of Malawi burns nearly 20,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine at the height of the pandemic because it could not administer the vaccines before their expiration, it speaks to the challenges supply chain planners have to tackle for ensuring timely distribution of temperature sensitive products like the COVID-19 vaccines.
MISI's annual Research Fest features real-world supply chain challenges faced by various local and multinational organizations and the solutions to tackle them developed by the students in our Master's degree programs.
The 2021 Research Fest, scheduled for May 31, will showcase 14 such projects in four thematic areas:
