Dr. Olaka was appointed as Chief Executive Officer of the Kenya Bankers Association (KBA) in October 2010. He is responsible for the strategic direction of the Association, covering industry advocacy, development, and sustainability. Previously he was the Director of Operations of the East African Development Bank (EADB) based in Kampala after serving as the Resident Manager in Kenya. He earlier served the Bank as the Head of Risk Management and as the Chief Internal Auditor.

Before joining the Bank, he had been with Banque Indosuez (now Bank of Africa) as the Internal Auditor. He started his career at the PricewaterhouseCoopers, Nairobi in the Audit and Business Advisory Services Division. He sits on a number of boards representing the KBA. These are Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), National Research Fund (NRF), Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE), and the Anti-Money Laundering Advisory Board (AMLAB) as alternate to KBA Chairman. He is the National President of the Federation of Kenya Employers and the Chairman of the board of the Centre for Corporate Governance (CCG). He also sits on the board of the National Housing Corporation (NHC).

He holds a Doctor of Business Administration from USIU-Africa, a First-Class Honours BSc degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nairobi, and an MBA in Finance from the Manchester Business School in the UK. His DBA dissertation was on the influence of strategic leadership on the implementation of strategy in the commercial banks in Kenya.

He is a member of the Institute of the Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK). He is an alumnus of the Strathmore School of Accountancy, a Certified Executive Coach and has a good command of the French language.

Regina has over 25 years’ experience assisting large and small advertisers across numerous verticals to navigate the evolving media landscape in Africa. She has deep experience managing media agencies including Universal McCann, Media Initiative EA, MediaCom and MindShare Kenya, which she set up in 2005.
Regina also has experience working on advertiser side at Safaricom Limited where she managed the media portfolio across traditional media, social media and digital media and was Managing Editor of the in-house magazine, The Option.

Regina has been working at Google Kenya since 2016 driving the digital transformation agenda and helping advertisers in East Africa understand how they can harness digital channels to achieve their business and marketing goals and make the most of their investment on Google’s advertising platforms.

Dr Wilfred Marube is a focused and highly motivated practitioner and researcher in the field of communications management who has made tremendous contribution to the Public Relations Industry. He has served in various capacities to advance excellence in Public Relations and is the current serving President of Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK). He is also a member of the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management Board and serves as the Delegate-at-Large for Africa.

He has been involved in strategy development and review exercises for public institutions and played a vital role on the development of a nationwide capacity building programme for media workers and led the team to development of a handbook on media reporting on audit findings.

He has been in involved in communication policy development, and was among the team that developed the draft Institute of Public Relations and Communication Management Bill that will regulate the public relations and communication management practice in Kenya.

Dr Marube has developed and reviewed communication strategies for public institutions, notable among them the National Council for Population Development, Office of the Auditor General and the Public Relations Society of Kenya.
He is a qualified trainer and currently lectures at the Strathmore Business School and has trained for but to name a few, Kenya School of Monetary Studies, Kenya School of Law, Chartered Institute of Public Relations, AFROSAI-E in Pretoria.

He is a graduate of Moi University (Bachelor’s and PhD programmes) and Egerton University (Masters).
He also published a book in 2015 on Communication initiatives for the improvement of infrastructure: A case of water and sanitation programmes in informal settlements in Nairobi.

Before joining Brand.KE he was the Head of Public Relations and Communications at the OAG’s office and previously served in similar capacity at the Nairobi City County.

Dr. Gasheri Mugao is the founder and CEO of Sheth Naturals, one of Kenya’s leading manufacturers of natural cosmetics. A graduate of Dental Surgery from the University of Nairobi, she forged a new path in entrepreneurship, after a 5-year stint as a practicing dental surgeon. Dr. Gasheri, also an MSc student of Health Economics and Policy, is keen on the intersectionality of policy and practice for better development outcomes for the public.

Her entrepreneurial journey dates back to the year 2008 at the halls of residence at the University. With a busy schedule as a dental intern at the Kenyatta National Hospital in 2014, she came face to face with the difficulty Kenyan women faced finding products for natural haircare after opting to wear her own hair natural. Her research on caring for her own natural hair made her realize that so many harmful ingredients went into most beauty products used by Africans. She identified a health gap in the cosmetic industry and embarked on a plan to call back Africans to embracing ancient healthy beauty by using natural products, using the clarion call Mizizi (Swahili for roots).

Africa, its leadership, women and the youth are issues close to Dr. Gasheri’s heart. She serves as a member of the board of the Kenya High School and as the Partnerships Committee Chair at the Kenya Association of Manufacturers, Women in Manufacturing Caucus. She has won awards at a personal level and for her company for supporting manufacturing SMEs and Women in Manufacturing. She is public-spirited as evidenced by her work in Tharaka Nithi through her outfit, the M&K Foundation, which holds annual free medical camps. She is also passionate about the empowerment of marginalized communities which she is keen to pursue through Sheth’s community-based model.

DR. GAMALIEL HASSAN (CEO of STIMA DT SACCO SOCIETY LIMITED)

Hassan is a holder of a Ph. D and MBA in Strategic Management, BA (Economics) and is a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya CPA (K) and Certified Public Secretary CPS (K). He is a certified Sacco development educator with a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) and African Development Educator (ADE). He is also a Sharia expert holding a Certified Islamic Finance Executive (CIFE) and an Advanced CIFE in Accounting and Financial Analysis. Hassan has over 21 years of work experience, 17 of which have been in senior management. He has expertise in Corporate Management, Strategy, Customer alignment, Commercial awareness, communication, research, advocacy, and networking. Dr Hassan was appointed CEO on 17th September 2020.

Nelson is a passionate, versatile and highly accomplished marketing professional, with a rich background in Information Technology and Economics.

Nelson gained a global stellar reputation of building global brands over the years in Sub-Saharan Africa, particularly at Pernod Ricard SSA, through strategic and innovative brand advocacy and brand building strategies, which for instance saw him introduce and grow Jameson Whiskey in East Africa from Zero to the highest-selling whisky in 7months (2012/13), propelled Chivas Regal to be the most viral whisky brand in Nigeria in 2013 amongst others.

As Co-Founder and CEO at AIfluence, Nelson is responsible for setting and executing the strategic footprint of the company and building the right teams to grow and scale the business into Africa and beyond.

Peter is an ardent Marketing & Communications practitioner with over 15 years of experience across different sectors, including Information Technology, Hospitality, and Financial Services, part of which were roles in Senior Leadership. He has extensive experience in Strategy, Business Development, and Integrated Marketing Communication, with the ability to effectively drive meaningful connections between brands and their stakeholders.

He is currently the Head of Marketing at Absa Bank Kenya PLC. Prior to joining Absa, Peter worked at Sarova Hotels as a Group Head of Marketing.

He has a proven track record of identifying marketing needs within businesses and formulating relevant campaigns to bridge the gap between a brand/product and the intended audience. As an expert in delivering brand and commercial value, Peter has horned the art of leveraging innovative sponsorship opportunities to advance the business agenda, including through global sports properties like the popular English Premier League (EPL) and the world-class Magical Kenya Open Golf Tournament.

In addition to his responsibilities at Absa, Peter is passionate about sustainable value creation for organisations and their stakeholders, ultimately impacting lives.

He is an experienced business leader with cultivated and proven ability to deliver impressive business growth, through organization transformation and culture change; performance management through balanced score card; Training; couching and mentoring as well as establish profitable cross industry business partnerships.

He holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Marketing from the University of Nairobi School of Business and an MBA in strategic Management from the same University. He also hold a Professional Post Graduate Diploma in Marketing (CIM UK) and currently working on achieving chartered marketer status.

Over the last 30 years, he has provided impact-leadership to large, multi-level corporations across diverse industries in Africa. Currently, he is a Group Director at BIDCO Africa – a multimillion-dollar FMCG manufacturer operating across 22 countries in Africa – where he supports growth of Bidco across African markets articulating, and implementing growth for leading business and corporates.

A Subject Matter Expert in Competitive Brand Equity and Regional Business Strategy, Chris has been credited with building respectable, industry-leading brands across the Aviation, Commerce and Manufacturing spheres. To this end, he has garnered multiple global awards, including Best Marketing Leader in 2017(Global Markies Award) and named among the Top 100 Most Influential Global Marketers in 2015 by the World Marketing Congress.

Chris sits on several major boards. He holds an MSc in International Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) – Wales, UK and is a double Fellow of the Marketing Society of Kenya and the CIM – UK.

Apart from business excellence, Chris is a Patriot and avid Conservationist keen on inspiring the world to engage and support global sustainability programs that improve livelihood across Africa, especially for developing countries.
