Lee V. Bethel, CLU®, ChFC®, REBC®, RHU®, ChHC®, CAP®, AIF®, CPFA, CASL®, C(k)P® is Senior Vice President of Comprehensive Benefit Services, Inc. a division of Hub Retirement and Wealth Management. He has been in the insurance, employee benefit, investment and financial services field since 1979. He’s a Morehouse College graduate and a past president of the Philadelphia Chapter of the Morehouse College Alumni Association. He provides a full range of employee benefits and financial services. Lee brings coordinated services to provide corporate consulting on 401(k) and 403(b) retirement plans, group life, health and disability insurance programs. In offering coordinated services, he is equipped to assist companies and human resource departments navigate the challenges and obtain the solutions needed in offering employee benefit programs to their employees. He holds designations as a Chartered Life Underwriter, Chartered Financial Consultant, Registered Employee Benefit Consultant, Registered Health Underwriter, Chartered Healthcare Consultant, Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy, Accredited Investment Fiduciary, Chartered Plan Fiduciary Advisor, Chartered Advisor for Senior Living and Certified 401(k) Professional.
He is a member of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, the National Association of Health Underwriters, National Association of Plan Advisors and the District of Columbia Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
He also served for three terms on the Board of Directors of the District of Columbia Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. He is a Life and Qualifying Member of the Million Dollar Round Table with fifteen Court of the Table qualifications and one Top of the Table qualification based on production. He has received numerous industry awards and has taught the personal insurance course for the Life Underwriter Training Council. He holds the Series 7 and 63 securities registrations through LPL Financial and the Series 65 through Global Retirement Partners, LLC.
He has appeared on the PBS television program Money Watch as a guest panelist and as a Financial Consultant for Black Entertainment Television (BET). He has been quoted in several magazines and in USA Today. He has also written several articles that have appeared in insurance industry publications. He recently was a guest lecturer for the Society of Financial Services Professional on Health Savings Accounts and Health Reimbursement Accounts and a presenter for the 2005 Annual Forum for the Society of Financial Services Professionals. He is the former Chair of the Employee Benefits section for the Society of Financial Services Professional. He has been featured in the April 2006 issue of Life Insurance Selling and the February 2019 issue of Insurance Net News. He was recently featured in an article on PlanAdviser.com that discussed mentorship and its key role in solving the industry’s diversity problem.
He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the National African American Insurance Association and the Board of Trustees of The American College. In August 2010 he was honored by the American College Alumni Association as Alumnus of the month. In November 2020 he became the first African American to be inducted into the American College Alumni Hall of Fame. He is also a charter member of the African American Association of Financial Advisors (Quad A).
Phillip joined U.S. Black Chambers, Inc. with over 20 years of experience in Supply Chain Governance, Finance, Audit & Internal Controls in both the Energy and Aerospace & Defense industries. In addition, Phillip has passionately served the community for more than 5 years connecting Black-Owned Businesses and consumers across the United States through his work with the Black Business Focus Group and demonstrating his commitment to transforming impoverished communities through economic empowerment. Phillip is a member of the Houston Chapter of the National Black MBA Association and a member of the Greater Houston Black Chamber of Commerce.
Phillip currently serves as Program Manager with the United States Black Chambers, Inc where he is responsible for the coordination and administration of all aspects of ongoing programs, maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, and implementing strategies to better engage with Local Chamber partners and their member businesses. Phillip studied Accounting and Criminal Justice at Sam Houston State University and earned an MBA from the University of St. Thomas and holds multiple professional certifications. Phillip and his lovely wife Shebia have four children.
