ABOUT THE NATIONAL VACCINE INFORMATION CENTER (NVIC)

In 1982, the educational charity known today as the National Vaccine Information Center (NVIC) was established in the U.S. by parents of DPT vaccine injured children. Dedicated to preventing vaccine injuries and deaths through public education, NVIC is the oldest and largest consumer-led non-profit organization in the U.S. that publishes information on vaccines and infectious diseases. NVIC co-founders were responsible for securing vaccine safety informing, recording, reporting and research provisions in the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act and for playing a leading role in obtaining a less reactive acellular pertussis vaccine licensed for infants in 1996.

NVIC has an unparalleled four decade public record advocating for better quality vaccine science; identification of individuals genetically, epigenetically and environmentally more susceptible to adverse responses to vaccination; raising vaccine licensing standards; transparency and accountability in the mass vaccination system, including elimination of financial conflicts of interest between pharmaceutical companies, academia and government health agencies, and inclusion of informed consent protections in public health policies and laws. NVIC does not make vaccine use recommendations, rather we maintain that the ethical principle of informed consent to medical risk taking serves as the moral foundation for the ethical practice of medicine and should be respected in public health policy and law making.

This year, NVIC is sponsoring the Fifth International Public Conference on Vaccination Oct. 16-18, 2020 with the theme of "Protecting Health and Autonomy in the 21st Century."

The four previous international public conferences NVIC sponsored in 1997, 2000, 2002 and 2009 were held in a hotel in the Washington DC area, and this one was originally scheduled in a hotel as well. However, due to ongoing social distancing regulations that may also involve travel restrictions this fall, NVIC's October 2020 conference will be held online so more people in the U.S. and around the world can participate.

ABOUT THE FIFTH INTERNATIONAL PUBLIC CONFERENCE ON VACCINATION

Our online conference will be professionally produced and include formal presentations and panel discussions featuring more than 50 distinguished speakers from the U.S. and other countries. Our presenters will offer their knowledge and personal experiences to empower and inspire you to make well-informed decisions about health and vaccination. The titles of presentations and speakers who are discussing these subjects are on the Speaker Page (see here for the full list)

The goal of NVIC's 2020 conference is to provide high quality information and perspective about how industry, medical trade, academia and government impact the advancement of vaccine science, policy, law and ethics within the context of emerging medical research and how suppression of independent scientific inquiry, censorship of rational criticism and erosion of informed consent rights threaten health and human rights. This conference will celebrate freedom of thought, speech, conscience and the human right to autonomy and informed consent to medical risk taking.

OUR WORLD IS CHANGING

The only constant in life is change and we are living in a time when our world is rapidly changing before our eyes at a dizzying pace. The new technology revolutionizing global mass communication has had a profound effect on our lives. Scientific and medical information about disease, vaccination and health is available to all online now, even as the practice of medicine is changing and so is the scope and enforcement of public health policies and laws in the U.S. and around the world.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

Electronically connected, we are able to talk with each other about what we think and how we feel about threats to autonomy and freedom of thought, speech and conscience, which endangers civil liberties and human rights. We can keep our balance and think rationally during a time when great changes are taking place by empowering ourselves with knowledge so we can understand what is happening and make informed choices about what we can do to take control of our health and our future.

EXPERIENCING COMMUNITY

Following the declaration of a coronavirus pandemic by the World Health Organization in March 2020 and the institution of physical social distancing regulations in most countries, people in the U.S. and around the world have struggled to stay connected with their family, friends, and colleagues. The unprecedented circumstances we find ourselves in this year make it even more important to share our thoughts and common experiences as a community of concerned citizens.

You don't want to miss the enlightened conversation about "Protecting Health and Autonomy in the 21st Century" at the Fifth International Public Conference on Vaccination Oct. 16-18, 2020.

Register today so in October you will learn how not only to survive, but to thrive, during these changing times.

THE FILMS

During this conference, two feature length films will be shown. The award winning 2011 documentary The Greater Good will be broadcast on Saturday evening and the new movie 1986: The Act will be broadcast on Sunday night.

In 2011, the movie The Greater Good was released in the U.S. and received awards at film festivals that year. Produced by Leslie Manookian and Kendall Nelson, The Greater Good is a character-driven movie that explores the cultural intersections where parenting meets modern medicine and individual rights collide with politics by weaving together stories of families with vaccine injured children together with interviews with doctors, scientists and vaccine safety and health freedom activists. The Greater Good remains a groundbreaking film about vaccine science, policy and law that is as relevant today as it was when it debuted a decade ago.

1986: The Act is a new movie directed by Andy Wakefield about the history and ramifications of the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act passed by the U.S. Congress in 1986. We are taken on a journey of discovery through the eyes of a couple having their first baby, as they ask questions about vaccines and infectious diseases that many first-time parents are asking today. What they and we learn is a shocking story of betrayal of the public trust. The film includes documented evidence proving fraud and cover-up by pharmaceutical companies working with government officials to hide the truth about DPT and other vaccine risks from the public, particularly parents bringing their children to pediatricians for vaccinations. It is a haunting film that you won't forget.

What People Said After Attending NVIC's 2009 Conference:

Attendee from Kentucky:

"There is so much information here. It was so comprehensive. I feel inspired and challenged to go back to my community because I am worried about the lack of representation of the African American community because we are the ones who, in general, are inclined to trust the medical authorities. That's a very scary thought to me and I have to think about the best way to challenge their thinking and help participate in this fight against forced vaccination. I've been given a lot of resources, a lot of information and I am forever grateful. Thank you!"

Attendee from New York:

"I'm a mental health practitioner from Long Island. I learned about this conference and organization in a roundabout way. I was called to go down to Katrina by the American Counseling Association because of my specialty in trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder. Before I left, I was advised to have some vaccines, which they gave me – hep A, B and DPT – within two days. I dispatched and was immediately medivacked out because I was sick. Three and a half years later, debilitated and bedridden – nobody could help me – I started doing research for years about the effects of vaccines. [I was] having difficulty finding anyone and I did come to the conference.

"I would like to say that I think it's a great forum for those who want to have a choice. It's not one way or the other. The science is discussed and as a clinician and a mother and a person who suffers from the ill effects of vaccines, I think it is important that people hear both sides and that they should be able to determine on their own what they want to do with the science. I think that this organization and forum is bringing that to the public and I thank them for it."

NVIC Co-Founders Barbara Loe Fisher and Kathi Williams

Attendee from Pennsylvania:

"Through my 16 year journey into the vaccine controversy, there was one constant and that constant was NVIC. From the beginning, when no one would answer questions when I called the CDC and could get anything straight, and I found NVIC and spoke to Kathi Williams for the first time, they have been a wealth of support. The constant has been Barbara Loe Fisher and Kathi Williams and NVIC. I have attended all the conferences and the information and the people they have brought together – there is no one else who could do something like this. In this time of change and forced vaccines, we need them now more than ever. The profound effect they have had on my life personally and on my family's life – I can't put a value on it."
